Hi Ladies
No 3 is due in 6 weeks. We already have an Archie William (5) and a Thomas George (3) who is called Tom.

Have wanted Ned (Edward) forever, but a friend has just used this, and another friend has also had an Edward so am looking at alternatives...

What do you think of Finn? Possibly Finley James but prefer just Finn myself.

So Finn or Ned... ? Surname is 2 syllables and begins with P

Thanks ladies

Finn is a classic timeless name (a very old name). Ned is more likely to date! I would go for Finn over Finlay.

Finn is overused. It might be an old name but it isn't timeless, Belbos. Old names can date too you know.

I would say Finn, as my little Finn is asleep on my knee. Do like Ned too though.

A name can only 'date' if it has risen up in popularity in the first place. Finn seems to have become VERY popular round here (whereas I didn't know a single Finn about 8 years ago), whereas I don't know many Neds at at all and doubt that it is in the top 50 (not sure?).

Not necessarily tammy; I don't remember Dwayne being that popular, do you?

A name will only date if people STOP using the name and I can't see much sign of Finn being underused any time soon :)

I know 3 baby Neds in my local area so 'tis very much used (often as a nn but two of them are just Neds)

The fact is that Finn is a much nicer name than Ned (which means CHAV ffs). And I agreee that it's a 'wally' 'no brains' kinda name.

The fact is that NO ONE knows which names are stayers so stop with the 'it will definitely date' thing. Move on.
