DC3 due in 2 days and it always takes us 2 weeks to decide on names - we have two DS already with surnamey names [don't judge me on that alone... !!!]

So shortlist is currently :
Fergus
Scott
Shane
Glynn

Go on - do your worst.... I can take it! Thanks in advance. Smile

I like Fergus best, then Scott, Glynn but don't like Shane.

Love it. But I love a Fergus.

Love Fergus - considered it for DS2 but DH was nonplussed so we went for Hamish (name had to have scots/celtic vibe). Not overly keen on Shane/Glynn though - ok but the kind of name that belongs to 30/40 yr old blokes (good looking blokes though!!)

I have my heart set on Fergus (Gus, but don't like Angus, Gustav, Augustus or any alternatives). Dh is dead against it, although he likes Gus.

I'm planning on waiting till 10 minutes after the birth, then twisting his arm. Experience tells me he's most pliable then :D.

I love it. I like Scott aand I like Shane too, but Glynn? eeyooooo Glynn is a bit no no no.

Giselle99 · 02/05/2011 20:28

I like Fergus. Don't like any of the others.

MelinaM · 02/05/2011 20:29

Fergus is the best from your list, don't like shane and Glynn at all I'm afraid!

nopinkplasticshite · 02/05/2011 20:29

Thank you for your quick replies!! Yeah - my DH knows a 50 year old bloke called Glynn so he's not keen! But it was the name of the village my Granny lived in for years so I'm kind of sentimental over it. I think Fergus is my fave too - but was concerned it would immediately become "Fungus" to children at school or "Fergie" as a nn which I wouldn't really like. Also don't want an overly Irish name, even though we live in Northern Ireland! [Contrary emoticon] Grin

I quite like that there's a CastleFergus in Ireland though, even though it is a Scottish name. Fergal would be the Irish version of Fergus so it's not 'overly Irish!

MayBankHoliday · 02/05/2011 21:03

Scott, by a long way.

mopsyflopsy · 02/05/2011 21:19

I like Scott and Fergus the most. I don't think you'd shorten Fergus to Gus, more likely to Fergie, if at all.
