Really strong boys name

I'm looking for a really strong boys name, one that could be a hero in a mills and boon novel. Nothing 'wet' or wimpy or geeky or too 'american' or too 'out there'.

So far I've come up with only

Damien
or
Luke

Any ideas?

I think consonant heavy names are masculine and strong sounding.

Edward
Hector
Magnus
Finn
Max
Elijah

Thanks 5inthebed, I had a look and they mainly seem to be called John, Jimmy and Joe, with Jack, Jeff and James also making an appearance, alongside Walter!

We chose our eldest sons name, partly because it is such a strong, intelligent, powerful sounding name. He is Elijah.

Or
Gregory, Samuel, Henry, Otis, Abraham, Moses, Jacob?

So lots of J names then [bugrin]

Walter is good..

I am with those that counts Damien and Luke in the wet category I have to say

Maffy · 25/04/2011 08:50

How about Atty? It is Celtic for 'as strong as a bear'.

BikeRunSki · 25/04/2011 08:57

Damien and Luke both a bit drippy imo.

Alexander?

Kentwood · 25/04/2011 09:08

Joe or Tom

When is the setting of the novel - is it now, near future, recent past?

I was going to say Jacob too.

Also Jack
Zac
Steve
Eric (probably because of the Viking)
Sven to follow the Nordic trend.
John
Max
Jed
Ned

DS2 knows a little boy call Titan (or maybe Tyton, I'm not sure)

Damien and Luke aren't strong names imo.

i think scottish names sound quite strong?

Angus, Lauchlan, Crawford etc but i think its from knowing farmers with they names.

Strong males i know

michael, matthew, john, craig, james, patrick, vinnie

but then thats probably more to do with the person being strong so the name conjures up strong images.

mamma2boyz · 12/05/2011 11:46

Finn
Flynn
Dominic
Duncan
Vincent
Hardy
Gregory
Malcolm
Hector
Dylan
Piers
Timothy
Benedict
Alexander
Saul
Solomon
Jack

Just trying to think of solid mens names...probably no help at all!

Nightstar · 12/05/2011 14:24

This is extremely helpful to be honest! Apart from a few silly ones, there are some great names I wouldnt have thought of.

Its set present day, so a man who is 30 now probably wouldnt have a really 'modern' name.

The biblical ones are good as they stand the test of time, and I loved the Scottish name list, you are right they do sound strong.

Many thanks and please do add more x

Why not go for something like Micheal Crawford..but everyone calls him by his last name..!?!?!?!

Or you could give him a cracking first name like: Harold, Orson or Malachi (which in the book he dislikes and therefore calls, himself by his surname)
