Hi
I love the name Rosie but consider it as more of a nn, so would prefer to have a longer, more official version for a full name. I'm not keen on Rose, Rosemary, Rosalind, etc, but I like both Rosanna and Rosalie. Which do you prefer and are they popular at the moment? Admittedly the only time I've heard of Rosalie is in Twilight Blush but I do like it.

Also, I would pronounce them Rose-anna and Rose-a-lee, would you consider these the generally accepted pronounciations? My name is always mispronounced so I'm keen for DD to have a name where the pronounciation is clear. Rosalie was listed as Roz-a-lee on a baby naming site, which I'm really not keen on, and there was a girl at school called Rosanna who one teacher used to call Roz-ar-na, which I really don't like. This is probably just me being paranoid though.

Middle name is likely to be Christina/Kristen/Kristin.

Opinions, suggestions and advice welcome :)

Thanks

Nice names.

Do consider Roselle too!

Emelene · 22/04/2011 20:34

I like Rosanna best, but you may see the spelling Roseanna. I like Rosalie too, though, and Rosie is such an adorable nickname! :)

Rosalie (Rose-a-lee) and Rosanna are both lovely, and I think you'll be fine with the pronunciations Yes, soe people do use the 'Roz' pronunciation, but I think the 'Rose' versions are more common.

Rosanna is my favourite, btw Grin

Also love Rosa

Rosalie is lovelySmile

ednurse · 22/04/2011 22:59

I am just Rosie...I don't think it needs to have a longer name to be shortened!!

hodgessucks · 23/04/2011 11:03

Rosalie is BEAUTIFUL!!

NinkyNonker · 23/04/2011 13:08

I like Rose best, but that doesn't help you so Rosalie!

GRW · 23/04/2011 13:52

I like Rosanna- have a listen to the beautiful song "For Rosanna" that Chris de Burgh wrote for his baby daughter. It's on You Tube.

wigglesrock · 23/04/2011 14:54

Sorry but Rosalie is very Twilighty, not a problem if that doesn't bother you, and if you go for Kristen as a middle name,it is a Twilight double bill!! Rosanna - I am so old I remember the Toto song written for Rosanne Arquette [bugrin] I like Rosa

youngjoly · 23/04/2011 18:22

Personally, I think Rose or Rosa are simple, classic names. Not at all keen on Roseanna - its too clunky and not very nice imho. Rosalie is much prettier.

SilkStalkings · 23/04/2011 18:28

Rosalie has a sort of gypsy fortune teller charm (not that they're usually all that charming irlGrin). Bit of witchy girlpower to it though.
I find Rosanna a bit nothingy, but maybe it's the Rosannas I've known that have been dull.

Ephiny · 23/04/2011 18:37

Rosita or Rosa? I quite like Rosalie (no idea about Twilight) but would expect it to be pronounced Roz-a-lee.

asdx2 · 23/04/2011 18:51

Dd is Rosie, I'd probably have put Rose on the BC but dh didn't like it so she's just Rosie. Rosie and all it's variations are surprisingly rare around here.

ensure · 23/04/2011 19:02

(I haven't read or seen twilight) I prefer Rosalie.

stardustn · 24/04/2011 11:03

Thanks everyone, a mixed opinion between them :) wigglesrock Thanks for that, I didn't even think of Kristen also being Twilight, middle name will probably be Christina if we go for Rosalie then! I think I'm leaning towards Rosalie...

I agree with Ednurse - Rosie is such a gorgeous name that I don't think you need a different one for the bc. And I don't think in this day and age it is unsuitable for the future (I would be happy with a solicitor called Rosie! Wink)

mathanxiety · 24/04/2011 19:18

Rosalie is nicer imo. Rosalie Christina is very nice. I really dislike Kristen and Kristin.
