I loved Mathilde / Matilda, but chose differently for DD (Tara Grace). Glad I did now, its the Olivia of last year, every other DD is called that or Tilly / Tilda

MrsRhettButler · 21/04/2011 23:07

i've always liked inga janoschi :) but once again i'm up against dp!

oh, dd 1 is called Anaia, its hebrew and means god answered

but i hate the way people pronounce it which is why i can't use Loretta, round here no one recognizes the letter T!

How about Naomi? Goes nicey with dd1 and means 'pleasant' so a cute meaning too.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 21/04/2011 23:14

NiceLy even!

NettoSuperstar · 21/04/2011 23:17

I love Persephone, Antigone and Maude, also Iris.

I love all the Irish girls names too but you may have spelling/pronunciation issues with them.

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 21/04/2011 23:19

Cora?

MrsRhettButler · 21/04/2011 23:30

i love lots of irish names also but the spelling thing is really hard, i've found it doesn't bother me much though, no one can spell dd's name and she doesn't seem to care either

colonel i had to laugh, Naomi is indeed a lovely name and i wish my auntie hadn't got there first! we've just had a terrible week with my drug addicted, slightly schizophrenic cousin named... Naomi! i might mention to her that her name meaning is pleasant! Grin

I have a Niamh which is fairly well known, and still lots of people struggle with it.
I don't regret it, but one of the less well known ones might cause more problems?
Mind you, we once got a Christmas card, written by the parent to 'Knife', and we both laughedGrin

LadyWellian · 21/04/2011 23:39

Oh dear re: the Naomi link!

Sorry but I think Bijou is positively abominable - surely a word only ever to be used by wanky estate agents?

How about:
Dara (Hebrew name - means compassionate)
Endora (fountain)
Leora (light)
Lirit (poetic)

onEastarEggIGraze · 22/04/2011 13:09

Bijou isn't a name I'd use, but there is at least one real person out there sporting it (Bijou Phillips, no relation to Busy Phillips Hmm). There is also a character in Anais Nin's erotica called Bijou, although whether that's a draw or a drawback depends on one's personal mileage I suppose.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 22/04/2011 13:09

That's just what I said, means 'small' dunnnit ? They call it bijou to posh it up [bugrin]
