Darcy or D'Arcy - first thought.....Boy or Girl??

Due in 2 weeks (eek!) and I already have 2 DS's. So we are sorted for girls names.... but boys???????? We are all out of 'em!
I like Darcy for a boy but there is a girl called Darcy in DS1's pre-school and now I'm confused as to whether it's a boys name or a girls name.

Also I had friends about 20 years ago who named their dog D'Arcy - but meh... even that doesn't put me off. Grin
First impressions / your opinions please?

Def girl. There are 4 at the toddler group i go to, one is spelt D'Arcy. I don't like that spelling! Surely will get called Arcy? It's going to be top ten soon surely as it is so popular for girls.

weimy · 14/04/2011 21:06

BooBoo check out my profile pic she is the smallest Grin

I know a girl Darcy. Bit effeminate for a boy IMO.

JuicyOlive · 14/04/2011 21:09

I was about to type Please don't but I see Shiney has done it already.

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 14/04/2011 21:11

The only Darcy I know is a 40 year old bloke

MirandaGoshawk · 14/04/2011 21:13

Darcey - just about OK for a girl. Please not D'Arcy (shouldn't that be d'Arcy?) and defo not a boy's name.

BodyOfChristLegsOfTinaTurner · 14/04/2011 21:19

D'Arcy is a common enough surname in my area in Ireland. Anyone I know with the surname is/has been called arsey. If you are going to use it, please don't use the apostrophe. What are your other DS's called? Just to get a flavour of the type of names you like, can suggest some then.

nopinkplasticshite · 14/04/2011 21:24

Sorry BodyofChrist - there is no way I'm telling because I will get totally slated on MN for them - and totally out myself in RL!! Grin
Suffice to say they are surnamey names - one which I love, love, love and one which has become far too popular and common (and not in a good way common!)

4 girl Darcys in the groups we go to. So super popular round here for some reason!

usualsuspect · 14/04/2011 21:30

Its a girls name ..and I like it ,but then I'm probably a certain socio economic type

TabithaTwitchet · 15/04/2011 17:04

Definitely I would expect a girl.

What about Darwin instead?
