How popular is Thea...?

It was 267 in the 2009 stats, but just been nosying at some old threads, and it seems it might be becoming more popular since then?

How many Theas do you know? Does anybody know how I could find out its more recent popularity? Thanks all x

I only know one Thea, and she's 13. I think it's a lovely name. :)

MarieFromStMoritz · 09/04/2011 14:45

I know of two. One pronounced 'Tee-ah' and one pronounced 'Thee-ah'. Which pronunciation were you thinking of?

blueberrymoon · 09/04/2011 14:47

Thanks Visitor, that's good to hear.

I also meant to ask - Any ideas for middle names to go with it...?

I think Thea Elizabeth sounds lovely, can anybody think of any more? Thanks

Definitely 'Thee-ah'.

Thanks Marie, how old are they please?

I know one, she is 7 and very lovely.
I think there was another at school - she would be about 12 now.

blueberrymoon · 09/04/2011 15:00

Thanks, I like Violet, but still prefer Elizabeth I think...

I really like it! I think's its pretty and people should know how to spell it, but I don't know any Theas at all. So in my area it must be pretty unusual.

eurycantha · 10/04/2011 19:50

I met a Thea last week she is the first Thea I`ve known ,she is 5months old.

magicmelons · 10/04/2011 20:17

I know one, she is 2. My dd goes to a girls school and there is none there, its usually a pretty good gauge we have lots of Isabelle's, Beatrix's and Emily's and Alexandra's. Although it maybe new generation popular, i have my eye on Annabelle for next baby if dd but it seems to be becoming more common even though i only know grown ups with the name.

I'ts a very pretty name.

notanumber · 10/04/2011 21:12

I know three, all under five.

But they all hang out in Stoke Newington which has a very specific and very small pool of quirky-yet-nothing-that-will-stand-out-in-a-bad-way-at-university-interviews-middle-class names.

Sooo.... I would say that it depends on your area, innit.

notanumber · 10/04/2011 21:13

I like it, by the way. Thea is a good name. And also, it reminds me of singer/songwriter Thea Gilmore (which is good)
