What could Evie be short for?

We like the name Evie but as our surname ends in 'ey' I think it might sound a bit daft so would prefer Evie to be the shortened version.

We're not keen on Evalyn as it's too old fashioned but what else could we use? We already have a DD called Jasmine.

We also really like Izzy aswell but our best friends girl is called Isobelle so that's not an option unless there is something else Izzy could be a short version of?

One of my best friends is Yvonne, know as Yve or Yvie.

sharbie · 07/04/2011 15:35

eva??

TobyLerone · 07/04/2011 15:36

You could just call her Eve.

freesias · 07/04/2011 15:36

genevieve

tigercametotea · 07/04/2011 15:36

Evita

Chocolocolate · 07/04/2011 15:36

Eve?

cookielove · 07/04/2011 15:38

I love love love the name Evie, and will use this for a dd if i ever have a dd, i don't feel it needs a 'formal' name and would happily use it on its own. However i look after an Evelyn who is called Evie, or Ebee soooo cute.

choccyfiend78 · 07/04/2011 15:41

I know an Evie and her surname ends in "ey". It is not a big problem, if you like it that much just go for it!

COCKadoodledooo · 07/04/2011 15:44

Because she's got little legs?

Sorry for crap joke Blush

The one I know (child) is Evangeline. I know an adult Yvette who's sometimes nn Yvie.

PatTheHammer · 07/04/2011 16:02

My DD is 4 and hers is short for Evelyn.

I don't think its old-fashioned at all, there was another at her nursery and there is another in the year above at school. So it is getting quiet popular but not as popular as just 'Evie' IYSWIM

We named her after DH's Grandma but also felt it gave her an option of something different when she is older as Evie may not be what she wants to call herself as a young woman.

I also like just Eve and that would go better with your surname maybe?

Not heard of any Evalyns though.

mathanxiety · 07/04/2011 16:29

Evaline/ Evalina?

Evadne -- but maybe a bit strange with the -ey surname.

hocuspontas · 07/04/2011 16:35

Dd2's first two initials are E.V. (Eleanor Victoria) and I called her Evie for a while.

Chynah · 07/04/2011 22:09

Evelyn, Yvonne, Evita, Evangeline, Yvette

Isadora

washngo · 07/04/2011 22:23

Evelina or evelyn are both nice. The last four babies I know who have been born in the last 6 months are all called evie and two are called evelyn, the other two just evie as far as I know.

Evie - Evelyn, Yvette, Yvonne, Evangeline, Evangeliqe

Izzy - Estelle, Esme, Esmerelda

FWIW I think that Esme and Jasmine are nice together :)

blueberrymoon · 07/04/2011 23:44

What about Aoife? (Ee-fa)

And I was going to say Isadora, but it's already been suggested :)

TobyLerone · 08/04/2011 09:31

I have an Esme. She's always Ezzy.

Shambolicaholic · 09/04/2011 20:10

I knew an Evie who was Evania in full which I think is gorgeous.

theanimalswentintwobytwo · 09/04/2011 20:23

harrygracejessica · 09/04/2011 22:51
