Opinions would be much appreciated on these two girls names please. Obviously, middle names are not a big issue at the moment but I like:

Alexandra Scarlett
Harriet Daisy

???

Absolutely love Harriet Daisy.

Rhubarbgarden · 06/04/2011 21:24

Prefer Harriet.

Does shortening bother you? If so - unless you want to spent the next several year saying 'it's Alex- andra, actually' then I'd go for Harriet.

Alexandra is one of those names that people cannot seem to help themselves from shortening. Not that it's not a perfectly nice MN, but you know what I mean.

Obviously Harriet could be Hattie, or Harri or Hats, but it is less natural for people to do this without invitation, somehow.

Anyway, I prefer Harriet. Reminds me of Tom's Midnight Garden.

Thanks everyone Smile. Alexandra being shortened is something that does bother me a little! I love Xander as a boys nn for Alexander but not really Xandra for a girl, as it reminds me of Sandra which I am not so keen on - no offence to any Sandra's Grin. Alex is ok though.

I love Harriet, nn Hattie

catinthehat2 · 06/04/2011 22:14

why can't you have both?
in either order they are really not bad at all together Confused

stillbroody · 06/04/2011 22:15

Alexandra
Not keen on Scarlett, nor Harriet

DesertOrchid · 06/04/2011 22:16

I like Harriet -> Hattie too.

sunshinescarlett · 06/04/2011 22:16

Harriet Alexandra... Alexandra Harriet ... I like it but not sure if it is a bit of a mouthful Hmm

Nagoo · 06/04/2011 22:17

Harriet. love it.

catinthehat2 · 06/04/2011 22:18

but you only bring out the middle name on certain occasions - for general use you will have Hatters or Alex. The mouthful thing is irrelevant (also don't think it is particualrly a mouthful)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/04/2011 22:20

Alexandra will always be shortened, if not by you, by everyone around you.

Love, love , love Harriet

sunshinescarlett · 06/04/2011 22:21

catinthehat - I agree you only bring them both out on certain occassions. I do love both, so maybe I should use both. Smile

Umnitsa · 06/04/2011 22:49

Alexandra! (But then I am biased as it is DD's name.)

pirateparty · 06/04/2011 22:51

Love the name Harriet (but vetoed by DH for no good reason!)

Prefer Harriet but Alexandra Scarlett is lovely too. I also like Daisy. Well done on coming up with lovely names.

cityangel · 07/04/2011 00:00

Harriet don't like Lexie

sparkle12mar08 · 07/04/2011 12:10

Harriet Alexandera has a lovely run to it!

QueenofDreams · 07/04/2011 12:14

I like Alexandra. Wouldn't use it myself as DP's name is Alexander :)

sunshinescarlett · 07/04/2011 13:53

Thanks for all your feedback. I think Harriet Daisy may be taking the lead at the moment. Harriet was my great grandmothers name and Harry was my DH grandad, so the name has personal connections for us. It is difficult though choosing!

I'm obviously biased but I say Harriet. Wink

Flower1000 · 07/04/2011 13:58

Another one in the Harriet camp

Gwendolinemarylacey · 07/04/2011 19:03

Alexandra....because I have a Harriet and I don't want it to be too common Wink :o
