I'm done with all that puking, piling on the pounds and pushing business. Really, I'm done (or so DH thinks, mwahahahahaha Grin)

So why do I obsessively read the baby name board? I have no bloody idea.

Am I a lone loon or are there any more of you reading who are not pregnant and will never be pregnant again?

i am a baby name stalker, DD2 is 1yo and should be my last but i can't help looking for future inspiration.

I know i'm not the only one as i see the same names and either they are fellow baby name stalkers or are elephants and have been pregnant for ages!

It is also a bit of respite from aibu and the likes! Grin

My youngest will be nine next month. I often read and occasionally post in here anyway.

MackerelOfFact · 05/04/2011 11:43

I feel it is my duty to sway the hormonally addled away from some of the potentially regretful names. I also just like hearing new names. I now have names for any future 'accidents' that may occur.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 05/04/2011 12:00

I do post here, quite often and always suggest Duncan or Adrian for boys. One day my suggestions will be taken up.
I think to be honest, I just like laughing at some of the bonkers unusual names people suggest. I shouldn't really, if I'd had my way, DD would be called Zamzam.

yes Blush

I thought really long and hard about my dc names which are quite unusual and love BN in general. I get secretly disappointed when friends name their children dull names when there are so many unusual and under-used names out there! I know my taste isn't everyone elses taste though Grin

Domesticbodess · 05/04/2011 15:56

Yes I am well and truly past baby-producing but love love love taliking about babies' names (don't get out much). I too thought long and hard about my DC names, but came up with nothing unsual or underused. Some would say dull, I call them classic.

nickelbabyhatcher · 05/04/2011 15:57

I do!
I read it because I am nosey ,and because I like the idea of being able to have a say in what someone else chooses!
I've had my names picked for aaages.

jellybeans · 06/04/2011 13:51

I like it as I have always had an interest in names. I love chosing names and commenting on them. I have 5 DC and not planning more but I sometimes think, 'IF I did have more I like...'.

Bucharest · 06/04/2011 13:54

God yes. It's my form of community service.

I never used these threads when I was looking for a name for dd though.

Yes I do.

I like to think that I am the font of all knowledge when people are looking for Welsh names.

Then when people are discussing non Welsh names I like to wonder what I would have called my DC if we weren't Welsh...

pinski1971 · 06/04/2011 14:21

Totally love hearing about other peoples' BN choices. Gives me a chance to feel superior about the names that others think will bestow class on their children. Brutal - but true! And I have three children and will never have to go through the hell of choosing again. It was a nightmare.

ValiumSoltera · 06/04/2011 15:09

I've no baby to name and never will have, but think it's all very interesting, why people choose the names they do. I'm interested in other things too though! Although, I didn't get to choose my dd's name and I wonder if that's why I find the subject of naming so interesting still. That opportunity was frustrated.

bibbitybobbityhat · 06/04/2011 15:14

I love the baby names thread!

I named both my babies 10 and 7 years ago - and managed to give them number 1 and number 2 on the commonest most popular names 2010 list - so ignore my advice if you want an unusual name!

thomasbodley · 06/04/2011 19:58

No kids, not pregnant, just very opinionated.

Also work for a company which invents brand names for new products, amongst other things, so like to think this key skill is transferable Wink
