Edward? Still top of our list with only a few weeks to go - any baby name thoughts/ advice very welcome. 'Edward John Rowell Thompson' (family reasons for the middle names) is where we are right now!

Think it is a nice, classic name that suits all ages. Edward is apparently quite popular though can't say I have met that many (various posters on here have speculated that Twilight may lead to a proliferation of Edwards but have not been aware of this). I like middle names to have significance so think family names are good too. Good luck.

muminthemiddle · 30/03/2011 23:08

I like Edward and think it is a name that stands the test of time.

Edward is a great name. I'm always reading on here about it becoming popular but I don't know any baby Edwards at all.

Also love John, especially if it's to honour a family member.

Edmundo · 31/03/2011 09:43

I do think Edward is very much on the rise. I rarely heard of baby Edwards a few years back but I hear and see in BAs onlline all the time now. I think it's this era's 'Andrew'. I do very much like it though. Edward John is a good name.

mateysmum · 31/03/2011 10:00

My DS is an Edward. He's 13 and when he was born there were very few about. I think it's a classic name and your combination sounds very dignified!

For a NN, we insist on Ed and never Eddie. People get the message pretty quickly.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 31/03/2011 10:04

I like.

If you're worried about it becoming common the Edmund could work just as well with the middle names you've chosen.

Edward and John, are you a fan of Jedward?

nancy10 · 31/03/2011 11:00

Edward is a lovely name, Edward John to me = Jedward too! But having Rowell I think solves that issue Grin

BuntyPenfold · 31/03/2011 23:33

great classic name

who is this jedward anyway?

SolarPanel · 01/04/2011 13:32

Edward and John are both nice classic names. Also like Edwin and Edmund. I didn't think of Jedward.

speculationisrife · 01/04/2011 13:34

I didn't think of Jedward either. Very nice and classic - the four names go really well together, I think, and sound slightly grand (in a nice way).

VerintheWhite · 01/04/2011 13:43

Teddy Thompson sounds like a lovely boy! What is a Jedward?

MrTeapot207 · 20/04/2011 13:18

Thanks everybody for your input. A few weeks down the line and we are still liking the combination very much. Ha ha, hadn't thought of the Jedward implications!

Jedward wouldn't occur to me (and I flippin' love the X Factor Grin).

I think your choice is lovely. Edward's a great name - solid, classic and timeless. The combination of names work very well together.

teapotsaunty · 14/05/2011 21:27

So have you decided on the name yet???????
