Which do you prefer between these 2 names? Doesn't matter if you don't like either, just an opinion

Someone had a thread about Tamsin the other day and I was going to mention the other name instead but when I googled it I couldn't find anything about it.Sad

I'm sure that Tasmin (or is it Tazmin?) is an old West Country name. I like it.

purepurple · 29/03/2011 21:05

I know a Tasmin, prefer it out of the 2.

DownyEmerald · 29/03/2011 21:11

RhinestoneCowgirl · 29/03/2011 21:13

Definitely Tamsin -- I'll admit that Tasmin makes me think of Tasmania....

Underachieving · 29/03/2011 21:42

Tamsin

kiwidreamer · 29/03/2011 22:50

Tasmin makes me think of Tasmania and the Tasman sea, TBH I wouldn't have thought of it as a 'proper' name but I'm no expert - much much prefer Tamsin (Yasmin might be an alternative??)

horsemadgal · 29/03/2011 22:53

Tamsin here too.

brightidea · 29/03/2011 23:07

Tamsin ( shortened version of Thomasine - female version of Thomas.)

Tis a lovely name. (prepare for for the mis-spellings and mispronunciation)

I love it - ( and it is my name!)

Firawla · 29/03/2011 23:15

Tamsin

Hedwig3 · 30/03/2011 12:10

I know a Tasmin sometimes known as Tazzy - makes me think Tasmanian Devil!

So...Tamsin.

Mum2Pea · 30/03/2011 13:34

Tamsin

Tasmin isnt as smooth sounding

greenzebra · 30/03/2011 14:18

Another one for Tamsin, I like it spelt that way to. It was on our list but DH doesnt like it as much as the name we picked.

I also liked Tamasin

both names are versions of Thomasina and has the meaning of Twin.

birdofthenorth · 30/03/2011 17:25

Tamsin, lovely name, but the problem with either name is it'll get misread as the other all the time! The Tamsin I know gets called Tam, Tammy and Tamsy if that helps at all

zingally · 31/03/2011 19:15

Tamsin.

Surely, with Tasmin, people would always be hearing it as Jasmin. I know I would.

MamaLazarou · 31/03/2011 19:16

Tamsin

Lovely name.

MerryMarigold · 31/03/2011 21:10

I was going to call one of my twins Tamsin (before I knew it meant twin). Went off it one week before the birth as I just couldn't imagine MY child being called that IYSWIM even though I really liked it as a name. I just couldn't imagine shouting it. I prefer Tasmin from the point of view of a nn, Taz is pretty cool. But Tamsin is hard to abbreviate.

Ihavewelliesbuttheyrenotgreen · 31/03/2011 21:31

Tamsin
