Looking for name for #3 daughter

We never planned to have a third so names were all done and dusted. The other two just fell into place, all three names for them both but this has left us stumped.

#1 has a fairly common name using the Scottish spelling. It's a short name, quite a pretty name.

#2 has an unusual name, but common enough for most people to know how to say it, it's Welsh and there are at least two well known presenters with this name. It's another pretty name. We're English, although have Welsh family both sides, but the name is not so Welsh that it is silly on an English child.

We're thinking of something that matches the brief #2 fits - unusual but not obscure, maybe Welsh (or any other British) but not difficult for the English to pronounce or sound silly on an English child.

Mum has told me today we need to use as many letters of the alphabet as possible but it has to be easy to say so that when people are shocked and say "How are you supposed to say that?!" you can say "It's easy it's..." Grin I love the idea but not that mean and it'd probably fall into the silly on an English child name!

So go on MNers, inspire me!

I was going to suggest Carys and Megan because the Welsh lady at my work has them names for her DD's and they are both cuties.

mrswoodentop · 28/03/2011 13:56

Betsan

confuddledDOTcom · 28/03/2011 16:31

Some lovely suggestions! We're going to talk names at the weekend, he's working away so under instructions to do some research!

I must have done a good job explaining my girls names Grin #1 is Isobel.

Megan's taken unfortunately because it's one I like and Bethany would have been a name I'd have chosen years ago but there's one in the family. Isobel is a corruption of Elizabeth anyway so would avoid those.

Carys is one I've liked before from a book character, although I can imagine telling everyone in hospital for a week or so (expected to be premature) that she'll be getting his name on her birth certificate as it's similar to my name.

He liked Morvern as he's into history, fantasty etc and it's like Morgana!

Eleri is very pretty.

kitkat1000 · 28/03/2011 20:48

i like orla and isla as suggested by others but the others listed don't even sound like names to me! maybe they're fine if you live in wales but in england they may sound a bit made up/trying too hard or like random words - only imo though!

kitkat1000 · 28/03/2011 20:49

not referring to isobel, bethany etc!

Carrotsandcelery · 28/03/2011 20:52

I was going to say Orla as well. I am obsessed with it and may have to have another baby just to use it - it would be too cruel if I had a boy though. Grin
It means golden haired princess and I think it is the prettiest name, looks beautiful and suggests a strong, confident beauty to me.
