Can't agree with DH on a name for DD2. Have an Isabella. Really like Mariella. Is this bad? I am sooo stuck for a name we can agree on....

I really wouldn't. Nice name though Smile

I think it is too much to have two ella names. What if theyre both given this as a nn at school?

meditrina · 26/03/2011 18:17

Does your Isabella have an established nn? If she's definitely an Izzy, then it might work. Just.

thinkingkindly · 26/03/2011 18:41

Isabella and Marianne?

Greenwing · 26/03/2011 20:23

They are not going to spend their lives joined at the hip, so I don't think it really matters. There will be few occasions when you say the names in the same sentence. Mariella is very pretty. Rather than being a problem you could say that they 'go' together but the first half is very different.
Go for it if you really like it!

Future conversations:
-So what are your children's names MuffinMouse?
-Isabella and Mariella
-...Oh.

-Hi my name's Isabella and this is my sister Mariella
-...Oh.

Sorry, I don't think it's a good idea.

Alwaysworthchecking · 26/03/2011 21:25

It is a bit confusing. My dd's name rhymes with her cousin's name and that causes enough confusion. As meditrina said, if dd1 is an Izzy that'd be different. I like thinkingkindly's suggestion too.

DownyEmerald · 26/03/2011 21:29

I really wouldn't.

No don't do it. People will snigger.

Ephiny · 26/03/2011 22:11

I wouldn't.

I think Marianne is nicer than Mariella, the Internet says "Marianne is of French origin. A blend of Marie (Latin) "star of the sea" and Anne (Hebrew) "grace".

I also like Annmarie, origin seems to be English and the Internet says "... is a variant of Anna (Hebrew), and the meaning of Annmarie is "He (God) has favored me." It also says of Annemarie is "Dutch, English, and German name of Germanic origin."

I prefer the spelling Annmarie.

Good luck finding the right name.

i went to school with twrin jeanette and bernadette. for the record they hated it. sorry

Onion1968 · 27/03/2011 20:45

not a great idea, sorry

Domesticbodess · 27/03/2011 20:52

Ooh Mariella is a gorgeous name; I can see why you're tempted. It's not an ideal combination but don't think it's the end of the world if it's the only name you love. Has anyone suggested Marianna? Now that would be lovely IMO...
