We have reduced the list to three. What do people think?

Amelia (Millie for short)
Jose
Ainsley

all with Louise as a middle name

I like Amelia. That's pretty and won't age because it's quite traditional.
Jose is pretty too and goes well with Louise.

I think of Ainsley as being a boy's name. (It makes me think if Ainsley Harriot)

helendigestives · 24/03/2011 19:41

Jose as in 'ho-zey'?

Prinpo · 24/03/2011 20:06

Do you mean Josie? If so, I like it (although I'm very fussy and would have to have a full name like Josephine on the birth certificate).

I agree that Ainsley just makes me think of Ainsley Harriot. Not a good association.

Amelia is pretty. There are lots of them around, but that may not concern you.

Out of the 3 I'd go for Josie.

pilates · 24/03/2011 20:07

I prefer Amelia out of your three, not keen on the others.

CPtart · 24/03/2011 20:37

Lots and lots and lots of Amelia's!
Agree about Ainsley Harriot connection.

NinkyNonker · 24/03/2011 21:32

Amelia. Have yet to meet one in real life.

cece · 24/03/2011 21:35

Surely Jose and Ainsley are boys names? Hmm

So would have to go with Amelia, although I know quite a few of them, it seems quite popular. Depends if that would bother you. But it is a pretty name. Prefer just Amelia, not so keen on Millie.

scaryfairy28 · 27/03/2011 14:36

Yeah sorry I mean Josie, I used to know one who was Jose but with a french dash thing about the e. Yeah Ainsley harriet is putting me off Ainsley though I have met 2 girls called Ainsley though one was from NZ. I prefer Amelia but worried about it being common though I'm not sure its so common in Scotland.

Just checked all names registered in Scotland last year 3 Ainsleys all girls, 9 Josie's and 123 Amelia's.

Oh well now that changes things. I would go for Josie now it isn't Jose!

helendigestives · 27/03/2011 21:26

Definitely Josie! :)

Amelia

TooManyBlossoms · 27/03/2011 21:52

Amelia always makes me think of the birth defect.

Ainsley def has the Harriot connection - not good.

I like Josie.

RueLaChesty · 28/03/2011 07:13

i have an Ainslie so i love it! And yes love the fact its not popular and it means from my own meadow or from Anns meadow so we chose it after her granny.

I also like Josie and may consider it if i have another dd.

Not so keen on amelia, its a lovely name but just not my taste.

I know a few female ainslie/ainsley/aynsly in RL but no males, its just unfortunate that the 2 famous ainslies are male (ainslie henderson anyone??)

Hedwig3 · 28/03/2011 09:14

Josie

ValiumSingleton · 28/03/2011 09:37

I like Josie, like Posie too (would put Josephine on bc)
Amelia/millie is nice but I disagree that it won't date. There are so many of them that in forty years it will have the same vibe as Claire has now. That's not bad though, Claire could take you anywhere really.
Ainsley no. I just think of Ainsley Harriet in the early days when he made loads of smutty innuendo on his cooking programme. Think he was later told to rein it in a bit.

scaryfairy28 · 30/03/2011 10:13

Thanks for the advice. Can't believe how hard this name choosing stuff is!! My pregnant brain cant cope with it Confused

Too many Amelia's for me and agree with the others that Ainsley will forever make me think of Ainsley Harriot or perhaps you could have China as a middle name.

Josephine is by far my favourite.
