Oisín Jack or Jack Oisín: Which do you like best?

I have decided on Oisín Jack or Jack Oisín, Jack has family connections and although so popular is meaningful to me.

Oisín is just a gorgeous name (imo) but I worry that no one in England will be able to say it and will lead to a lifetime of mangled pronunciation?

worry worry

Any thoughts?

I prefer Jack Oisin, just because it 'flows' better.

Oisin Jack. Oisin's a lovely name. People will learn how to say it (at least people who matter will). Yes he'll always have to spell it and it'll get mispronounced and it IS annoying (I speak from experience!) but I would still do it

mrsdaz · 23/03/2011 17:46

how it is pronounced?

Oisín is pronouced uh-sheen. It's a name from an Irish legend, it appeals to my romantic side Blush

I think I'd go for Jack Oisin, purely because he (and everyone else) will be forever looking for the special "i" on the keyboard!!

KatieWatie · 23/03/2011 18:17

Oh and also, he might get called "O.J." which you might not want? Both are lovely names though, but I think Jack Oisin flows much better (now I know how it's pronounced :D)

Definately Oisin Jack as Oisin is such a lovely name that isn't as overused as Jack (which I think has been the most popular boys name for many years).

mopsyflopsy · 23/03/2011 18:57

I love Oisin - much nicer than Jack imo which has become overused imo. I know Siobhans, Niamhs and several friends with foreign names and people learn very quickly how to pronounce a name.

You rarely say both names together anyway, so I'd choose the first name on the basis of what you want your ds to be called on a day by day basis.

Jack Oisin sounds better
