Due in a matter of weeks and clueless for names. I don't want a nameless baby!

We already have a George and a Harrison. Our surname is Fox.

We don't know the sex, so two lists to shorten!

Sebastian

Freddie

Oscar

Archie

William

Thomas

Stanley

Noah

Gracie
Phoebe
Matilda
Florence
Madeleine
Eleanor
Evelyn
Elizabeth
Charlotte
Poppy

Suggestions also welcome as none of these really standing out for me, however, ideally I would like to end up with just a couple to choose from!

ah maybe Blush
sorry

TheEffinOasis · 21/03/2011 17:26

You could go with Alfred instead?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 21/03/2011 17:29

Oh god please don't call the poor innocent child 'Wilfred'

FanellaFox · 21/03/2011 18:28

Blush Oh... is it that bad?!

Alfred is nice...?

TheEffinOasis · 21/03/2011 18:39

I'm not sure I would call Alfred nice...but I can't say Wilfred does it for me really. I think if you're going down the Fred/Freddie route then Frederick is probably the most dignified...

Wilfred is a getting your shins kicked name, as is Alfred.....Adam Fox is however a doctors name... Call him Adam Wink

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 21/03/2011 18:49

Ian is a nice name too and Frazer isn't common, nor is it cack....seriously you don't want to give the child a name that makes him inwardly shudder whenever anyone asks what it is !

Hulababy · 21/03/2011 18:49

Sebastian - ok, not a favourite of mine though
Freddie - like this, although think Fred is probably better for birth certificate
Oscar - like this
Archie - less keen
William - like this and with Will an nn
Thomas - fine
Stanley - less keen
Noah - ok

Gracie - prefer Grace
Phoebe - pretty
Matilda - lovely, like Tilly as nn
Florence - love it
Madeleine - ok
Eleanor - less keen
Evelyn - not keen
Elizabeth - fine
Charlotte - fine
Poppy - pretty

Bearcrumble · 21/03/2011 18:57

Ferdinand Fox.

Rhubarbgarden · 21/03/2011 21:03

Sebastian and Eleanor or Rosalie get my vote. Not keen on any of the others.

Loving that Ferdinand suggestion though!

BelligerentGhoul · 21/03/2011 21:08

Like Sebastian.

Like Frederick and Fred but hate Freddie.

Like Oscar.

Don't like Archie or Stanley at all, sorry.

Do like Thomas and Noah.

Love Elinor, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Charlotte. Like Madeleine, Poppy and Florence.

BelligerentGhoul · 21/03/2011 21:09

Wilfred better than Freddie, yes.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 21/03/2011 21:33

If you call the child Ferdinand everybody will think the childs parents are dodgy football fans !

Greenwing · 21/03/2011 23:44

I like the classic ones which are not just current fashion, ie

Sebastian
William (if you don't mind the royal wedding connection)
Thomas

Phoebe
Matilda
Eleanor
Evelyn
Elizabeth
Charlotte

My favourites are Thomas, Sebastian, Elizabeth and Eleanor

FanellaFox · 22/03/2011 07:44

That's the thing with William. It was a favourite for ages (DS2 was going to be William in fact) but I'm due pretty much bang on the date of the wedding, bloody Royals Hmm

I like William, Evelyn and Elizabeth

namestaken · 22/03/2011 11:48

Sebastian - I love this name, and know a little boy called 'Seb', who is just gorgeous
Freddie - Really like this
Oscar - Sweet, but is something that I think i'd name a pet
Archie - Gorgeous, on my list
William - Lovely
Thomas - Not so keen
Stanley - Really dont like
Noah - Nice

Gracie - Not keen, though I think 'Grace' is lovely
Phoebe - Dont love it, but dont hate it
Matilda - Lovely
Florence - On my list Smile
Madeleine - Really nice
Eleanor - Nice, though all the Eleanors I know have become 'Elle' or 'Ellie', which are also nice, but I think you need to decide whether or not you also like these nicknames
Evelyn - Lovely
Elizabeth - Nice, but you have to be prepared for it to become 'Lizzie' or 'Liz'
Charlotte - Lovely
Poppy - Currently top of my list Grin

Firkytoodle · 22/03/2011 12:11

Love Sebastian (biased as I have the most gorgeous blonde one asleep upstairs).

I also like William, Thomas, Archie.

I had Dominic, Benedict, Henry, Charles, Marcus, Reuben and Alexander on my baby name list as well.

Love Florence, Madeleine, Eleanor, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Charlotte.

DD would have been Aurelia, Helena or Octavia.

TheEffinOasis · 22/03/2011 12:11

FF I do still think Sebastian goes so well with your chosen middle and surname - as long as it gets shortened to Seb and not 'Sebbie' as with a little boy I know. His sister is called Tatiana...the whole family are achingly posh. But also lovely I must add.

Just been lurking on another thread about 'ridiculous' baby names. What is ridiculous to one isn't to another - I guess that's the most important rule to remember over all others! No matter what others think of a name it's what you think that really matters. My youngest (for another 3 weeks at least) has a family name - Jasper - some love it, some despise it. I love it and really don't care that much anymore what other people think - in fact I worried more about it before he was born, now he just IS Jasper!

Firkytoodle · 22/03/2011 12:13

*DD Could have been Aurelia, Helena or Octavia but we went with Olivia instead which has become really popular recently.

lesleymum · 22/03/2011 12:15

I love gracie and Freddie. think they are really lovely.

hope this helps

LouMacca · 22/03/2011 12:41

Out of your list I like

Freddie
William
Thomas
Noah

Matilda
Florence
Eleanor
Charlotte

If I had to just pick one of each I would go for Freddie & Charlotte.

Good Luck! Smile
