Help needed please I have a character building surname of Troth to work with and we can't seem to find girls names that appeal

So far the choice may include: Lilia, Beatrice, Hannah. Middle name Alexandra (after my mother)

Any other ideas? Or feedback ( please be nice!)

Hello - is the surname pronounced Troth or Trohth? I've never heard it before, very unusual.

I'd say something pretty, but with a bit of clout:

Phoebe
Annabel
Cornelia / Cordelia
Victoria

Lilia is a pretty name, but with your surname it sort of sounds like a statement. Lily of troth? Hannah and Beatrice go much better. Just my opinion...

Think you would have to be careful of initials if the last 2 names are A and T.

PepsiPopcorn · 20/03/2011 13:14

Lilia - prefer Lily
Beatrice - lovely but a bit of a mouthful with your surname
Hannah - nice and goes well with your surname

How about

Emily
Jennifer
Rebecca
Mary
Cara
Megan
Julia
Lydia
Abigail
Penelope/Penny
Louisa
Serena
Miriam

Lilia - i like the name but it doesn't really go with your surname
Beatrice - definately not - it sounds like it could be a character from a roald dahl book - far too much of a 'stuffy' (sorry!) name to go well with Troth.
Hannah - again, perhaps to 'simple' to go with your surname.

How about....
Emily Phoebe
Chloe Erin
Sophie Molly
Amelia Jasmine
Evie Georgia
Isabella Maisie

There were supposed to be gaps in there somewhere! :)

Onion1968 · 20/03/2011 18:43

just make sure you check all connotations with full name and initial e.g. Phoebe Troth sounds so much better than P Troth does IYKWIM.
I think a 3+ syllable would be a good idea too.

pilates · 20/03/2011 20:08

How about Alexandra Lilia?

I like all the rest of the names but think the above sounds best with your surname.

Finessa · 20/03/2011 20:21

Beatrice Alexandra Troth (BAT)
Hannah Alexandra Troth (HAT)
Lilia Alexandra Troth (LAT)

Does anyone spell out initials anyway? It's certainly tricky having an A in the middle.

I agree a 3+ syllable name would be best.

Isabella Alexandra Troth (IAT)
Elizabeth Alexandra Troth (EAT)
Francesca Alexandra Troth (FAT :( )

I think you need to decide if you are bothered about the initials or not. If you are, which initials are okay with Alexandra?

If you're keeping Alexandra then work out initials that work - IAT? Or have two middle names - being very careful of what the initials spell! Or swap the Alexandra for Sandy or Sandra? Or go for a completely different middle name?

Beatrice Troth is a bit difficult to say - the sssstrr of the "-ce Tr" could be tricky. Same for Elizabeth. Maybe a name ending with an a would be easier. First name and surname are said far more often than the full name (which is only ever said out loud when getting married or standing for parliament!)

Have you had any more thoughts about it? :)

Finessa · 20/03/2011 20:27

Longer names ending with an a (or an a sound) could be:

Jessica
Rebecca
Melissa
Andrea
Samantha
Amanda
Julia
Joanna
Janetta
Francesca
Isabella
Louisa
Olivia
Vanessa
Fiona
Alexandra
Jocasta
Suzanna/Suzannah
Gabriella

erm, can't think of any more!
