Arianna and Lyra are the nicest :)

PurveyorOfWoo · 17/03/2011 16:21

Why not just Anna?
I like Arianna (Arian in Welsh means silver, so it makes me think of something light and silvery)

Marianne?

mathanxiety · 17/03/2011 22:15

I like Lyra and Carmen best.

meditrina · 17/03/2011 22:28

From your list, I like Tallulah, Dulcie, Sienna and Charlotte.

Other names you might like to consider: Ariadne, Callista, Calliope?

I like Charlotte the best.

Hedwig3 · 18/03/2011 09:03

Dulcie

dan1981 · 18/03/2011 13:50

I love charlotte cos its classic and pretty...also good nn potential (lottie, char, charlie). IMO

BlueChampagne · 18/03/2011 13:54

Arianna or Ariane

oohlaalaa · 18/03/2011 15:05

I like Charlotte the best. I love Amy when spelt with a y, Aimee just looks like a poncey/ try to hard spelling of Amy to me - sorry.

theagedparent · 18/03/2011 15:32

Dulcie or Tallulah

MackerelOfFact · 18/03/2011 15:41

Arianna is nice. Also quite like Carmen and Lyra.

What about Aria?

Edmundo · 18/03/2011 22:27

Saskia
Angelina
Darcey
Skye
Delilah

squeak2392 · 19/03/2011 17:07

Lyra - Beautiful.
Lilah - Prefer Lila, as this just looks like a misspelling of Delilah (which you could use instead?).
Tallulah - No. Although it's becoming more acceptable =/
Dulcie - Looks a bit nn-ish. Either that or the parents are fans of D&G. Also, Dull Dulcie possibilities.
Arianna - Pretty, but if the double n is signifying it should pronounced like Anna, I don't like it. Much prefer Ariana.
Sienna - Pretty, but a bit chavvy these days.
Charlotte - Lovely and classic.
Carmen - Love this name.
Carmel - Don't love at all. First of think of 'More Than Freeman', then I think of the place. Also a bit hard.
Tianna - Same as Arianna, but this one also seems a bit chavvy to me.
Aimee - I like AMY, but I don't understand this spelling.
Callianna - Again, like Arianna, although this LOOKS better with a double n. However, I've never heard this name before, and I thank you for giving me a name to use for the nn Callie Wink.

I like Carmen, Lyra, Charlotte, Sienna, Amy and Callianna, in that order.
The only one I say an absolute no to is Carmel.

weimy · 19/03/2011 18:27

what is the difference between arianna and ariana in terms of pronounciation? Confused

I like both Arianna and Ariane.

squeak2392 · 19/03/2011 21:32

There are quite a few ways you can say Arianna/Ariana actually.

Ah-ree-an-uh, Arr-ree-an-uh (Arianna).
Ah-ree-arr-nuh, Arr-ree-arr-nuh (Ariana).

Ah-ree as in Harry,
an-uh as in Anna,
arr as in Arnold.

I don't know that the spelling really makes a difference, but this is how I read them.
