Narcissa

I've only recently discovered this name and I think it's absolutely beautiful. But with the blatant narcissism meaning, is it useable? I also understand there is a Harry Potter character called this (not read it myself) so should that put me off? To me it just speaks of wild daffodils, which I think is lovely, but if you met a little Narcissa would you think it was pretty or would you think jeez, what were the parents thinking?

I could see where you were coming from Rhubarb.

As for the character being weak and the name reflecting that you could hypothetically argue that through her lying and cowardice she saved the wizarding world!

"this is my DD Narcissa, she was named after the saviour of the wizarding world!"

You'd look a bit batty though... Wink

gorionine · 17/03/2011 08:08

But she would not actually be named after "the saviour of the wizarding world" she would be named after a flower that Rhubarb loves so the connection with HP really does not matter (to me anywaySmile)

EauRouge · 17/03/2011 10:04

There are loads of different varieties of daffodil, some of which would work as a girls' name, have a look here

seeker · 17/03/2011 10:07

Oh, don't be silly!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2011 10:20

Oh I know that, but I was just going on from the HP comparisons further down the thread and anyway we may get a HP pedantic on thread that will tell me that she wasnt the "saviour" so I'm going to hide from them if they do come on!

I'm liking the link EauRouge. Rhubarb you could call your DD Trumpet! Grin

What about other floral names there are some here

Rhubarbgarden · 17/03/2011 11:27

Trumpet is awesome! Grin Thanks ladies.

EauRouge, can I ask you were you are from? there is a place near where I used to live and where we used to go for picnics called l'Eau Rouge. Just brought back a lot of nice memories.

EauRouge · 17/03/2011 17:49

I'm from Cambridgeshire Grin my username comes from this, it might be the same Eau Rouge though.

gorionine · 17/03/2011 18:01

It's a different Eau Rouge, mine was in the Alps in Switzerland No picture of the actual stream but was in that village.

EauRouge · 17/03/2011 18:12
