hyphenated names

For those of you who have DCs with hyphenated names, do you actually use the second bit of the name on any everyday basis or does it invariably get dropped so that it becomes pretty quickly more like a middle name?

I know 2 adults with hyphenated names. One is Anne-Marie (and she is always Anne-Marie). The other is Elizabeth-Anne. She is either lizzie or Elizabeth-Anne, never Elizabeth. Don't know any kids though (or if i do they have dropped the second bit of the name before I came across them).

I am not intending to make any comment (negative or positive) about hyphenated names, just curious if people who use intend them to be more of a middle name.

There as a girl in DD's class with a hyphenated name but it is always shortened to the first name. Hyphenated names don't seem to be populqar where I live and I don't know any adults with one either.
