I love the look of this, but need to know how to pronounce it, and what nn could be used!:)

Blimey, if you don't know how to pronounce it, what chance has the rest of the world got? Grin
HTH

BelligerentGhoul · 12/03/2011 15:06

I don't think it is ever a good idea to choose a name that you have to ask people how to pronounce.

To me, it looks like the name for sanitary towels or incontinence pants or pelvic floor muscle exercises or something - sorry.

pinkthechaffinch · 12/03/2011 15:06

Sounds like Meredith pronounced with by a toddler with a really bad lisp, sorry.

Is it a real name?

cece · 12/03/2011 15:07

Have you made it up or did you find it in a name book or something - I have no idea and it does seem like a product name to me.

GrumpyFish · 12/03/2011 15:16

I know one. Pronounced pretty much as spelt - "Fer-eh-lith". The one I know doesn't shorten it.

phooey · 12/03/2011 15:18

I knew someone Scottish called this. Not sure if it was spelt the same, but it had 2 syllables -

'Fur-lith'

It's a sort of mixture between Meredith and Felicity Confused

Onion1968 · 12/03/2011 16:50

It's horrible! I also agree with Belligerentghoul that it sounds like a product from the 'feminine care' shelf.

mathanxiety · 12/03/2011 18:55

Feral + megalith is what it sounds like to me.

Sounds like a tree protection agent

Beyond awful

Fourleaf · 12/03/2011 18:59

Sorry I don't like it at all. Makes me think of the word 'feral'.

jinxediam · 12/03/2011 19:01

erm sounds like you have a lisp when you say it out loud!

DilysPrice · 12/03/2011 19:02

Supporting character in a badly written fantasy series.

HA HA HA .... that's brilliant BLuddyMoFo

alexaj · 14/03/2011 20:07

Sounds like it should be some Princess in a storybook...definitely not for 'real life.'

birdofthenorth · 14/03/2011 22:57

Heee to mild green Ferelithquid!! Sorry, not a good name, unless a nn for Ferrel Meredith?!

GrimmaTheNome · 14/03/2011 23:06

I like it, but that's probably because I had a very nice Scots flatmate of that name (a mech eng student, as unprincessy as they come). IIRC she pronounced it Fer-e-lith, but I rarely heard it in full as she was always called Feri. Occasionally other flatmates boyfriend would sing 'Ferry across the Mersey'at her, but then he was a prat Grin

Perfectly respectable Scots name. The naysayers are ignorant sassenachs Grin

catinthehat2 · 14/03/2011 23:19

You're sure about that? Hmm

EmmaBGoode · 15/03/2011 07:52

Quite possibly the worst name I have ever heard. Sorry.

Teamair · 21/04/2011 20:14

I loved this name so much I named my daughter Ferelith, pronounced Feh-reh-leeth. It is both a Scottish and Irish name. We considered Brynn, Ciaran, Meara, Skye,
Teagan, Zoe and Tulia. A month before our daugher was born, we came across this name and loved it. When we held her, we knew it was perfect for her. Everyone who meets our little one says what a lovely name it is. We call her Fe (Fee) as a nickname. It is such a treat to hear our 23 month old say her name, minus the lisp. She likes her name, at least for now.

Bunbaker · 21/04/2011 20:18

Nickname will be fairy lips. It's a no from me.
