Jamie Oliver, in recognition of his splendid recipes
Just not Oliver James, because he is an arse.

WaddlingSheep · 03/03/2011 20:12

Jamie

lumpybananapuree · 03/03/2011 20:13

Who's oliver james?

Hulababy · 03/03/2011 20:14

Oliver

Was what DD was going to be called had she been a boy.

Jamie is ok, but I would have to use James on the birth ceetificate personally, and not as keen on that.

CameronCook · 03/03/2011 20:14

Oliver, although prefer James with Jamie as a nn

meditrina · 03/03/2011 20:17

Another vote for James with Jamie nn.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 03/03/2011 20:19

he's a popular psychologist who writes about bringing up children and blames mums for stuff.

they are both nice names btw.

lumpybananapuree · 03/03/2011 20:22

Oops!

Bit of history! ds2 6mths is Oliver james but I think I prefer jamie & am seriously considering changing it! Not another should I change it thread just which name would you choose!

Oliver

Tarlia · 04/03/2011 10:32

I love Ollie. There is no need to change it though, surely you can just call him Jamie. I know a few people call by their middle name or even something random!

pilates · 04/03/2011 10:34

Oliver or James, but not Jamie.

agora1 · 04/03/2011 21:30

Both lovely names. Have a slight preference for Jamie.

muminthemiddle · 04/03/2011 21:34

both nice but if pushed prefer Oliver.

Onion1968 · 04/03/2011 21:41

both nice in very different ways. maybe you could wait til he is born and see if he looks like an Oliver or a Jamie.

kitkat1000 · 04/03/2011 21:46

ollie lovely - not a fan of jamie

smother · 04/03/2011 22:45

I think.... I can see your dilemma as Jamie is very lovely for a little one. But imagine your little boy as a grown man in his 30s, 40s, 50s... suddenly Oliver seems very appealing, don't you think?? I think Oliver is a name that you can grow with and grow into. And while I love Jamie, I think the 'sweetness' of this name peaks somewhere between 0-10 years......or maybe 0-20 years, but anyway, somewhere before mature adulthood..... not sure if this is making any sense.... but basically, both lovely names and try not to worry!!!

FunnysInTheGarden · 04/03/2011 22:46

Both are good, but laughing at Oliver James or Jamie Oliver.

usualsuspect · 04/03/2011 22:48

a bit middle class

lumpybananapuree · 08/03/2011 09:20

usualsuspect I'm a bit Confused about your comment. Is middle class a bad thing??????????

I like both - and Jamie is quite popular round here, for people of my generation as well as wee ones. I have several adult friends called Jamie, and it's not an issue at all, totally normal
