HopeCalvary · 03/03/2011 19:06

I know a cute little girl called Skyrah... maybe a thought?

Richlinn · 03/03/2011 19:11

Sorry, neither. Isla as suggested before.

seeker · 03/03/2011 19:16

Or you could choose a name?

cece · 03/03/2011 19:20

If I had to choose between the two I would go for Skye.

How about Kay?

I am not so sure about having siblings called Summer and Skye? Are you a hippy?

sum04 · 03/03/2011 19:24

No, im not a hippy... I just like names that are not so common and are a bit different.

There are 5 Summers and 3 Dylans at ds's school. No Janes, no Elizabeths,no Peters, 1 John and 1 Patrick.

Notnowcato · 03/03/2011 19:32

I agree about names that are not so common: there are three Skyes in my son's school (about 200 children in the school: the Skyes are predominantly among the younger children, so 5/6/7). Does that help? I've never heard Skyla used where I live (south east).

cece · 03/03/2011 19:39

I know some Skyes too, so not that unusual. Also Dylans (know loads of those) and a few Summers.

I agree if you want something unusual then go for Jane - you never meet a child called that these days! I would have used it if I could have.

Notnowcato · 03/03/2011 19:41

Jane is a lovely name!!

sum04 · 03/03/2011 19:53

There is only one other Summer and one other Dylan at my kids school.
When i called my daughter Summer 6 years ago, hardly anyone else had heard of that name for a girl and it has only recently got quite common. Dylan isn't an unusual name and i didn't intend to choose an unusual name for my son. It's just the girls names that i find difficult, because i either don't like the names or the names i do like have already been used between friends and family and i don't want my daughter to have the same name as someone i know.

Sorry: I was just meaning to steer you towards Skyla as I've never heard it used so, where I am, it's more unusual. I agree totally about not wanting to use a name that you hear a lot. When I was at school there were seven girls with the same name as me in my class, and three of us had surnames beginning with the same letter!! I was always addressed using my full name.

sum04 · 04/03/2011 20:24

Looking more towards Skyla than Skye i think? :)

I think Skyla is a lovely name (as is Jane!) and it goes well with Summer and Dylan (which Jane doesn't!). I prefer the sound of Skyla to Skye and I think she'll be unlikely to find another Skyla in her class/school. Enjoy your lovely baby and good luck with the birth. (My third delivery was great. Epidurals with both one and two, just birthing pool and classical music with third!)

Thankyou Notnowcato.
I think im pretty much set now on Skyla :) x

Call her skyla then her nickname would be Skye which is pretty nice compared to some x
