Carter vs Conrad

We have a two syllable K surname, and we've got down to Carter or Conrad for a boy.

I love both, probably prefer Conrad, but DH says Conrad will go to Connie which neither of us like. But why, Conrad and Connie both two syllables, so why would you say Connie?

I've said Carter in school would become Carter The Farter!

i really like Carter as a boys name but i know someone with it as a surname so it wouldn't be right for me personally. but i do really like it. if u like Conrad though i doubt it would be shortened to Connie...never heard as connie been a nn for a boy before.
happy choosing :)

To be honest dan1981 i'd be happy with either, both aren't too popular, but I jsut think Conrad is a strong sounding name.

DD used to have a Conrad in her class and he was never called Connie - maybe Conn but I think usually just his full name.

Carter is too much of a surname IMO.

They're pretty similar. Two syllables, both start with a c, both surnames. Not a lot to pick between them. I don't particularly like either but that's personal preference.

I've met a couple of Konrads before (neither English) but never met a Carter.

Carter of the two.

I really like both names but I'd say in school Farter is more likely than Connie! The grown up Conrad I know occasionally gets Rad.
