oh thanks lololizzy. I can only imagine the insufferable kind of parent who would delude themselves their child was a rainbow child!

MirandaGoshawk · 24/02/2011 20:24

oooh lololizzy. I knew there was a reason for DS misbehaving. He's a Rainbow Child, come to teach us...

MirandaGoshawk · 24/02/2011 20:26

BTW I too am interested in earth energies, crystals, angels lentil weaving and all that stuff, but that link was the biggest load of old tripe I've ever seen.

ValiumSingleton · 24/02/2011 20:28

The link didn't really tell you anything either ... it was all maddeningly vague. Mathanxiety, I would have to put my fist in my mouth if I met the parents of crystal-rainbow children!

kerala · 24/02/2011 20:34

lololizzy that job sounded like it would drive a sane person to drink

it made me angry. My bosses have a beautiful child who i am very close to , as they live on site and i have always babysat/had child around etc.
So when child was tiny they labelled them as an 'indigo'. Because child was wilful and stubborn according to them.. umm no just a normal baby and then toddler! I remember them expressing concern ..'but what should we DO??'
wtf??!! So they got in touch with other indigo parents, it proper did my head in!
Roll on several years and they decide child is no longer an indigo!!!!! Hmm
Why ??! - because apparently child is not gifted any more and is actually not keeping up in class and not too bright.
Poor kid! Still, better to disappoint them now than lose the Indigo status later in life?! maybe they can drop the expectations and let child get on with childhood!

lololizzy · 24/02/2011 21:44

Valium, i met sooo many of these parents. They used to flock like a (hand crochetted and reiki'd) magnet, wanting my advice, hoping i would spot their indigo child's qualities the second i met them..Much offense if i hadnt spotted this. I am not a parent, if i was i would run a mile from these theories. would i believe my child was amazing, incredible and unique? yes i'm sure i would. but the equivalent of the next messiah??!!!Shock
oh and apparently those who poo-poohed, were not the chosen. They would deny the messages being taught by these earthly cherubs..at their eternal detriment!
Hmm

ValiumSingleton · 24/02/2011 21:48

oh blimey. you should have been paid extra for enduring that!

You can imagine when these kids grow up and tell people with a straight face that they're an indigo child. cringe.

SilkStalkings · 24/02/2011 23:01

Elitism is how cults work. Being accepted into the group, being a 'chosen' one etc. The Indigo child thing is a cult by proxy, the parents are the ones desperate to join.

lololizzy · 24/02/2011 23:42

have met woman in their 60s, 70s, telling me they're 'first generation indigo child'
Hmm

ValiumSingleton · 25/02/2011 08:29

wow! Confused And could they answer straight questions such as "so what was your special message to the world? did you impart it successfully?" or would you need to be on a higher layer/inner sanctum before you were ready to hear the message! Grin

lololizzy · 25/02/2011 13:06

there may be a link to Steiner schooling. Please do not flame me as i am not in any way slagging off Steiner. However..it was perhaps coincidence or not??- that many of these so called indigos were at Steiner school or were adults that had been. But in my opinion, already thought of themselves as being 'gifted' before the whole indigo thing got trendy about 6 yrs ago.

chipmonkey · 26/02/2011 00:36

When I read about Indigo children, they sounded exactly like my ds1. So I had the choice of believing that ds1 was sent to lead us to our salvation at the end of days ....... or that he has ADD.
I went with ADD in the end. It was more practical.

Janoschi · 26/02/2011 00:52

Great link! Especially liked the idea of 'being born on the ninth dimension of consciousness'. Anyone have any ideas what the other 8 are? Hmm

mathanxiety · 26/02/2011 06:03

I would say pethidine is the eighth as it has the most effect on consciousness, followed by hypnobirthing, walking epidural, gas and air, water birth, lamaze breathing, lying back with legs in stirrups, and backseat of a taxi with googly-eyed driver staring in astonishment is definitely the first dimension of consciousness.

Ilovethedoctor · 26/02/2011 06:42

math - :o

ValiumSingleton · 26/02/2011 09:42

Grin very good!

Janoschi · 26/02/2011 11:25

Thanks Math. (alters birth-plan accordingly)

SilkStalkings · 27/02/2011 19:00

Actually I have always called my DS (who has Asperger's Syndrome) Clark Kent because he really was like someone from space. You can imagine how difficult toddler Clark would have found it having to fit in with all these idiot, illogical humans. My other whimsy is that Aspies are new souls to the planet, most people have been round enough to know roughly how to be human when they arrive.
When you've had a bad day with your kid, you can be quite vulnerable.
