Hannah?

I am a few weeks away from having a daughter. I am thinking of Hannah. It goes well with surname and I like the meaning (gift from God) but I'm put off by Hannah Montana. Any thoughts? Will anyone remember Hannah Montana in a couple of years' time?

We liked Hannah too but had two DS! Have one for me!

CarGirl · 20/02/2011 22:56

Hannah Montana is already on the way out!

Lovely classic name, of course I'm biased as mine is 14 now!

OliveMalay · 21/02/2011 00:26

Hannah is classic enough (Biblical) for Hannah Montana not to have too much impact on the name.

Clary · 21/02/2011 00:28

No one will think of Hannah Montana.

It's popular if that bothers you - two of DD's best mates are Hannah and there is one in most classes in our school.

SecretSlattern · 21/02/2011 00:28

Beautiful. I wanted Hannah for DD2 but DH vetoed it so we chose Emma as a compromise.

The HM thing never occured to me when we were considering it.

MrsRhettButler · 21/02/2011 00:32

people will think of hannah montana... trust me.

its a boring name to be lumbered with, it doesn't flow.. Sad

as an aside, i thought hannah meant grace or full of grace or something?

brightcopperkettles · 21/02/2011 02:14

When I was pg with DD I was chatting to MIL about names. She'd had 3 boys but always wanted to call her hypothetical DD Hannah Victoria. I did say to her that Hannah was a lovely name.

When DD was born we called her something else that DH and I loved. When MIL came to the hospital and we introduced her, she said 'Oh it's nice but I thought we'd agreed on Hannah Victoria!'. Bless her, she was so disappointed that her girls' name was never used.

With that irrelevant story I think that it has wide appeal and I don't think personally that it will be too heavily tied to Hannah Montana. Go for it, my lovely MIL would certainly approve Grin.

One of my dd's best friends is called Hannah and they really like to listen to Miles Cyrus and do occasionally watch Hannah Montana. strangely I've never really made the connection. I think it's fine, and a nice name too.

I like Anna better, or Ana.

Hannah tends to be faddish. It comes and goes, but Anna is a classic. And the Hannah Montana thing might get irritating after a while.

growing3rdbump · 21/02/2011 09:40

Love Hannah. Wish had used it for DD. Dont worry about the Hannah Montana link - she'll only get interested in her when she's 6ish!

CharlieBoo · 21/02/2011 10:04

I like it, I know a beautiful 6 year old Hannah. It will suit a baby, a teenager and an adult. Good luck.

Sarsaparilllla · 21/02/2011 11:12

My best friend is called Hannah, I think it's a lovely name and Hannah Montanna will be way forgotten about in a couple of years

JagoJackie · 21/02/2011 22:02

Thanks for all the comments. Glad most agree it's a lovely name and HM not really an issue. Hannah Clair it is then ...

sorry for the negativity.. Blush its my name, i've lived with it so felt i had the right to be negative, i'm usually nice about not liking other peoples name choices...
on the up side, loads and loads of people tell me they like my name :)

Underachieving · 22/02/2011 00:24

It's my name too and I like it. Perhaps I'm living in a weird cultural anomally sort of a place but Hannah Montana's never caused me any trouble.

MrsRhettButler · 22/02/2011 00:26

i get called hannah montana all the time... ok, only by moronic guys at work and random teens but hey

Highlandgirl · 22/02/2011 10:01

In 10 years time who's going to remember Hannah sodding Montana....

I think it's a great name, classic. Go for it.

flower38 · 22/02/2011 16:34
