Op asked how it would get pronounced. That's how it gets pronounced here. Surely better OP is aware of every way their child's name could be said, before embarking on a lifetime of correction, before the child settles for a nn anyway?

My daughter's best friend is Aurelia (her mum says Aw-ray-lee-a but I can't get out of the habit of calling her Or-ray-lee-a, even though we have known her 3 years, so think if you pick a name like this you will inevitably hear varied pronunciations/ mispronunciations). We live in Germany but I don't know that it is German as have never come across anyone else with that name - her siblings have unusual names too - sister is Adina, brother is Jarik, haven't come across another of either of those either.

Just a word of warning - she will get called Aurelie for short, which sounds like "orally".

It's a lovely name though, IMO, I mean it, she just might come in for a bit of stick when she's about 13 or 14.

Well DC will be half French but the girlie comments are putting me off. Plus the fact I have no idea how to say it in English!
