Can't decide whether to go for Arlo or Eli even after spending a week trying the names out on him! Any thoughts?

My Eli has never ever been called Ellie !

Artichokes · 14/02/2011 20:13

Love, love Eli. If I ever have a DS he will be Eli. In fact I wish this thread wasn't here as I am scared it will alert people to this brilliant name which I do not want to become faddy!

Arlo v faddy right now.

tummytickler · 14/02/2011 20:33

Artichokes Eli is not faddy - lovely OT name. We do not know any others and mine is 8 years old.

growing3rdbump · 14/02/2011 20:35

Love Eli.
What about Eli Alexander? Eli Benjamin?

londonboots · 14/02/2011 21:33

Arlo

Stars22 · 14/02/2011 21:39

how do you pronounce Eli? is it e-lie

Ruthie32 · 14/02/2011 21:41

Really like Eli

schmee · 15/02/2011 09:50

tummytickler - really glad to hear that as I love the name and have been thinking about it for DC3.

caffeinated · 15/02/2011 11:08

We have a 4 year old Eli. We were never tempted by the elijah or elias variants. Perfect just how it is. Though apparently one parent in his class isn't in agreement cos he got a Christmas card addressed to eliah.

HelloOutThere · 15/02/2011 11:21

Eli is lovely

calaloo · 15/02/2011 11:23

Erm there are loads of Eli/Elijahs in London and just because a name is Biblical it doesn't mean it won't go out of fashion. Both will date in my opinion, they're not William or Edward are they!

Both nice names though.

tummytickler · 16/02/2011 07:55

calaloo not everybody lives in London though!
See, to me Eli/jah is classic, as I have met Eli's of all ages (one or two). I do not know any young ones, but have met one in his 40's and one in his 70's. So a bit more classic than Arlo I would say.
Eli Benjamin is just lovely.

calaloo · 16/02/2011 10:50

I disagree.

Elijah/Ethan/Noah - same thing

Only know under 7s with the above names and I know loads of them. Also, Eli/Elijah is massively popular in the US which will affect the way it is perceived in years to come.

IntergalacticHussy · 16/02/2011 10:53

Arlo - effortlessly cool and a bit different

Eli - makes me think of the orthodox jewish bloke in the Sopranos. not so good.

IntergalacticHussy · 16/02/2011 10:54

not because he's orthodox jewish, i might hasten to add, but because he's not a very nice character.

CaptainNancy · 16/02/2011 10:55

Arlo- I love it!

Elias is nice though...

tummytickler · 16/02/2011 11:57

calaloo my Eli is over 7 years old so we will have to agree to disagree Grin

calaloo · 16/02/2011 12:01

FriggFRIGG · 16/02/2011 15:29
