Love it...think it is really cute x

purplefeet · 11/02/2011 09:12

sorry, don't like it.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/02/2011 09:28

I like it, but wouldn't use it. Sounds like an earache solution to me.
Brian Ferry has an Otis if that helps at all.

CheckeredFlag · 11/02/2011 09:33

Fab!

QuestionNumber · 11/02/2011 09:35

Not keen, sorry.

Edmundo · 11/02/2011 09:40

I put it in the same pile as Curtis etc. Surnamey.

No likey.

londonboots · 11/02/2011 09:42

Love it. Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) has an Otis as well. And there's Otis Redding so if you are music fans, great singer to share a name with.

AllieW · 11/02/2011 10:10

Could be quite sweet. Wasn't there an aardvark puppet with this name on CBBC a few years back?

SameOldJollster · 11/02/2011 10:22

know one, brother of Oscar. Think it's nice.

also knew a girl called Eve with Otis as a MN.

Tuschinski · 11/02/2011 10:46

I think it's fantastic! DH said it half joking when I was pregnant and then we both looked at each other and said "Actually it's good!" Didn't use it in the end, went with Reuben.

cumbria81 · 11/02/2011 11:33

No, ridiculous. Name for an Aardvark.

Sarsaparilllla · 11/02/2011 11:42

I like it, I've never heard of this Aardvark!

Underachieving · 11/02/2011 13:03

To me Otis sounds like oh it is said lazily. It would depend on the names that come after it, to make sure he doesn't sound like an exclaimation. Otis John Parker = fine. Otis Col Dowt = terrible. Thankfully there aren't many really bad last names in that way.

Really like it.
Did make me think of Otis the Aardvark though too

OutIntoTheBlue · 11/02/2011 14:47

I like it!

TransatlanticCityGirl · 11/02/2011 19:01

It's cute.... Just try it out with the surname because it's the sort of name that could go very wrong with wrong surname!

But I like that it's not very common.

MrsMooky · 22/02/2011 07:18

I love it.. it's my dog's name.

Valinor · 22/02/2011 11:52

Reminds me too much of lifts.

melrose · 22/02/2011 11:53

I know one but always reminds me of the lifts (Look next time you are in one, they are all made by Otis!)

cocoachannel · 22/02/2011 12:00

Aardvark springs to mind for me too I'm afraid.

But...that's not something kids today would think of and I actually really like it!

Any help please
I’m days away from having my second baby.
we are still struggling for boys names. We don’t know what we are having
we have 1 little girl called Emmie and her middle name is Taylor.
I like a couple of middle names so here are the shortlists.
names we seem to most like are

Otis Jude
Lando Jude
Rufus Lloyd
Jenson Lloyd
Hudson Jude

we did love Jude but my Daughter has a very good little friend at school called Jude so don’t want it as a first name and my husbands middle name is Lloyd.
we loved Jesse when my daughter was born but without knowing my brother in law used it so a no go there.

any suggestions would be much appreciated.

bloominglovelyorange · 08/10/2022 16:04

Love the name Otis

Greeneyegirl · 08/10/2022 22:20

I like it but its very popular at the moment. Has been for the last 3 years. Its the main character in Sex Education along with Maeve. Otis and Maeve were the fastest rising names in 2020. I think Otis charted in top 100 in 2021. This might appeal to you though and make yoh consider it more.
