In my very honest opinion:

Rogan reminds me of a curry
Radley reminds me of a handbag

They are nice sounding words but have strong associations with curry and handbags, and I've never heard them used for people.

If you're looking for R names, Rufus or Rowan are lovely...?

MistleToad · 03/02/2011 19:40

Yes they are too chavvy.

Well you did ask!

SandStorm · 03/02/2011 19:46

I'm with minipie on this one - curry and handbags.

Rudy
Rafferty

They are really, really, really awful. Sorry.
There are loads of nice 'R' names. I agree with previous suggestions of Rufus, Ralph, Rowan, Rudy and Reuben.
I would like to add Raphael.

PanicMode · 03/02/2011 20:34

We have a Rufus and Rory if that helps - except I am always getting them muddled up!

MerryMarigold · 03/02/2011 20:35

Too Mills and Boon. Both of them.

How abot Rogan and Josh? Wink

greenzebra · 03/02/2011 20:46

I know what you mean peeps, I dont like rogan, keeps reminding me of the curry the more I say it.

But I am turning more to Radley, just been reading about the name and its relation to kill a mocking bird.

I really dont think its that bad now, its not top of my list but its on the list.

thanks for your comments

Rowan is a great name and at the top of our list but we think it might be too popular or becoming too popular and we like it a bit more unusual.

Rowan and Rory

crashingwaves · 23/02/2011 15:35

Ronan? Richard, Robert, Ronald ;)

I really don't like Rogan or Radley, sorry chick! If I saw Radley on a school register that theme tune from The Omen would come into my head! :D x

JojoMags · 23/02/2011 22:03

Really dislike Rogan and Radley. Since you ask, both seem chavvy. There are some lovely 'R' names suggested in this thread though. Especially ike Rowan and definitely not common around here.

cece · 23/02/2011 22:08

I would say they are both a bit chavvy.

MyUserNameWasGone · 23/02/2011 22:53

Chavvy, sorry.

I would go for Rory and Riley, Rory and Ross, Rory and Robbie, and, basically, Rory with just about anything Grin

thefruitwhisperer · 23/02/2011 23:16

Raife, Rex or Ridley.

Underachieving · 24/02/2011 00:09

Radley is the lesser of the 2 evils. You do realise he'll spend the rest of his life saying "no not Bradley..." though?

randomimposter · 24/02/2011 11:22

I would go for...
Rafferty
Redmond

Radley ok at a push, Rogan no IMO.

ValiumSingleton · 24/02/2011 12:08

curry and handbag for me too.

R is a good letter too, loads of good r names for boys. Roscoe, Richie, Reuben, Ruairi, Rory, Redmond, Raphael (Raf)

ValiumSingleton · 24/02/2011 12:09

Yes, robbie is a good name. It hasn't 'dated'. It still works now.
