I was not happy but he wasn't having a bar of it. He let me have Eliott though as a second name.

I feel put upon though as you picked out two of my names for your examples.

I assure you I have no delusions of grandeur, I am quite grand!

I didn't use my favourite names for my dds because dp didn't like them. Also, names I like now wouldn't necessarily be names I liked then - they are teenagers now and people's tastes change.

Two of the names I listed though - Thaddeus and Yoldande - I have loved since being a very bookish child... So if they are pretentious, I blame the library! :)

I agree Lockets there is a name in my list i love but would be afraid to use. the other nine i would use and some i have.
