What does everyone think? Part of me loves it but don't know if I could actually use it?! I loved Noah but that's too popular now...do we think this will get as popular??! Confused

strawbs I love it. I want to ask what lastname is but I know you can't tell me. IMO single syllable firstnames go really well with lastnames of any number of syllables - you can't go wrong unless your lastname is Best or West!

OOOH yes ...do it do it do it!

perpetuallypregnant · 28/01/2011 00:37

Like it think it's getting more popular recently but not excessively so.

AllieW · 28/01/2011 10:09

Really love it.

PlanetLizard · 28/01/2011 11:05

It's fine, not my taste really but OK.

MackerelOfFact · 28/01/2011 11:09

DP really wanted this for DS but we have a surname with a 'th' in it, plus I thought it would be a bad name if he ended up with a lisp. (Nothing to suggest he would, and he hasn't, but you never know!)

I do like it but it doesn't really have any strong sounds in it... it's difficult to shout because of the 's' and 'th' sounds.

LetThereBeRock · 28/01/2011 13:26

I love it.It's gorgeous, and one of my favourite names.

rachel1970 · 28/01/2011 13:44

I like it. But be aware that the name won't 'travel' very well as no German, French or Spaniard can pronounce it properly Grin.

ghosteditor · 28/01/2011 13:45

I like it. It's a really strong name - did you know Seth (or Set) was an ancient Egyptian god of darkness and chaos?

I work with a Seth and he's a very competent colleague, so I have good vibes for the name!

seeker · 28/01/2011 13:46

Be careful - if you live anywhere in the South East he will probably be "Seff". My ds's friend is "Efan" at school - ds actually thought it was spelled like that until he was about 8!

I would have said "Sess" until I was about 10 as well!

skyberry · 28/01/2011 13:52

Love it. Was one of the names I considered for DS.

shinydiscoball · 28/01/2011 20:00

Absolutely love it - it was our name for a boy, but just found out we're having a girl! :o

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 28/01/2011 20:02

it is a good name if you want your ds to grow up full of lounging animal grace, seduce all the local girls then go off to America to be in the talkies.

memphis83 · 28/01/2011 20:03

love it was going to use this myself but as seeker says above seff is annoying, i took 6 months trying to retrain my dh's brain to say th not ff

IrritaGirl · 28/01/2011 20:03

Fantastic name!

deemented · 28/01/2011 20:07

I absolutely love it.

Had set my heart on it when pregnant with DS3, had a thread on here about it, told all my friends what we were going to call him, they said they hated it, but we perservered anyway. He was going to be Seth Elijah.

Then he was born, and he was Seth... for all of five minutes - he looked nothing like a Seth and it didn't suit him at all.

In the end we went for our second choice, but i still want it on our list for next time.

Fantastic name IMO.

strawberrylion · 28/01/2011 20:21

Great thank you for all the feedback!! We live up 'norf' so the seff thing shouldn't be too much of a problem?? Also a two syllable surname...you've all made me feel more confident about it now thanks Smile

LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Seth - it's a front runner name for me if we have a boy in 5 weeks, but as I chose the name for DD1 I know I should let DH have final say on the next DC.

A bit worried about 'Seff' now though as we live in the South East:)

AngryPixie · 28/01/2011 21:29

I adore it!

SoMuchToBits · 28/01/2011 21:31

It reminds me of Sethstarkaddersmum. I like her so that's fine!

Rainydaze · 28/01/2011 21:33

Makes me think of Cold Comfort Farm.

Icoulddoitbetter · 28/01/2011 21:34

I love it but unfortunately my DH doesn't (doesn't like Noah either though I love that too) so we have a different but still biblical sounding name.

Go for it!

MarionCole · 28/01/2011 21:35

I have a Seth so of course I think it's a fine name. I have never met another child called Seth. Oddly for such a simple name, I find I have to spell it for people more than I think I should have to.

Cataline · 28/01/2011 21:36

Very lovely!!!

JojoMags · 28/01/2011 22:30

Always think Seth should be short for something - doesn't quite sound like a name in its own right. Also strongly associated with Emmerdale character and the smell if pigs (even though I haven't watched for years - honest Blush), and also with Seth in Cold Comfort Farm - all brooding and slightly repellent sexuality. That might just be me though Grin.

BelligerentGhoul · 28/01/2011 22:32

Nearly everybody on here seems to love it but I really don't like it. Like Noah though.
