I know. Me again Blush.

After much agonising and obsessing over names and picking the brains of you lovely mumsnetters over and over we think we've picked our final two:

Girl: Kate
Boy: Iarlaith (Ear - La)

Please be your lovely blunt selfs - I can take it. Grin

Kate is a lovely, classic name but Ms. Middleton = bound to become a top 3 name in the next year or two.

I don't like Iarlaith, I'm sorry. Is it Gaelic? Love Irish names usually, but it just sounds too feminine to my ear.

BarbieLovesKen · 25/01/2011 21:13

Yes! we're in Ireland and are Irish. Do you think Kate will be popular here though?

Everyone is saying that about Iarlaith to be honest..

Thank you for your honesty!!! Smile

I posted about this the other day,I love the name Kate.

BarbieLovesKen · 25/01/2011 21:27

Wheres the thread muminthesun? I love it too. It was a girls name for ds, had he been a girl. The fact we didnt change it for this one (although I had a brief affair with Gabriella) shows us its a keeper.

Prefer Caitlin (Cate)
How about Donovan or Padraig

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 21:40

Agree - love Kate, not a huge fan of the boys name.

cece · 25/01/2011 21:43

Kate is lovely

Boys name sounds a bit girly.

BarbieLovesKen · 25/01/2011 22:11

Hmm.. the boy's name has been killing us to be honest. Ill probably bore some of you now but have explained on other threads that we already have an Oisín and its my favourite boy's name ever. I cant quite match it or find anything we like as much at all and now feel that any name a boy gets will be a second best name to Oisín which is unfair on a potential ds2 - ridiculous. I know.

Im actually not sure I really adore Iarlaith either to be honest, and slightly agree that it could sound a little girly but is fabulously different, in that Ive never ever heard of one or met one (until DH told me about a famous hurler named Iarla), is an ancient Irish name so its not going to go out of fashion and has a lovely meaning (little prince).

love Oisín BTWGrin

i really like Ruairi for a boy...any good?Smile

BarbieLovesKen · 25/01/2011 22:33

Thanks clumsy - maybe I could have an Oisín number 1 and Oisín number 2 Grin.

Hate Ruairi (but thank you!!!). Ive went over and over this. The only other boy's name we've genuninely considered is Darragh.

Kate is OK. Iarlaith sounds feminine to me too.

migola · 26/01/2011 09:45

was going to suggest Oisin as an alternative! Love Kate but Iarlaith to my unIrish ears sounds feminie(but doesn't look it) - however it won't for all your friend, family & neighbours so go for it

I do really like Darragh though

shouldnotbehere · 26/01/2011 10:44

Love the name Kate

I have never heard Iarlaith before, it sounds okay to me though.

MelinaM · 26/01/2011 16:32

Love Kate!!! Not sure about Iarlaith (Ear - La)Hmm!!

Rhubarbgarden · 26/01/2011 20:20

Kate's great. Don't like Iarlaith, sorry. Darragh is nice.
