I love this name, and I think DH is coming round. (He would have the name on the condition the nn is Lily, but we can work on that bit.)

Have been going off the name a bit since I've heard of a few French men called Camille, and also Kamil on Eastenders (the Masood's baby) is pronounced the same, and I'm worried people will think that's how you spell the name/where I got it from.

What does mn think???

I love it.It's beautiful.

I thought it was a feminine name in France too, though I'm judging solely by a few French films that I've seen.

I'm afraid to say my first thought was camel.

Would you consider Camilla?

mathanxiety · 20/01/2011 17:26

Lovely, and Mila is a lovely nn, (nicer than Lily imo) I like Camilla too, despite the Parker Bowles woman.

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/01/2011 17:29

I think it is a boy's name.

Camilla is pretty.

We had a lovely au pair called Camille, she was the best, so I love the name

sophiesmummie · 20/01/2011 17:52

In German Kamille is camomile, so I'm not keen. Camilla is better imo.

deliakate · 20/01/2011 18:23

Do like Camilla too.

Don't mind about the camomile.

But camel.... Our surname is Thomas. So would you automatically think Camel Toe, onimolap. Oh no.

Like Camilla, Camille and Camomile - but not carmel.

Hulababy · 20/01/2011 18:24

My friend is called Camille. She iseither known as Camille or Cam.

AFAIK she never had any problems with the name when growing up.

i prefer Camille to Camilla.

CupcakesHay · 20/01/2011 18:25

Also - I think boys version - especially Kamil is pronounced a bit harsher, almost more emphasis on the "K" sound, whereas girls version is just kind of lulled together into the "ka" sound.... IYSWIM

onimolap · 20/01/2011 18:26

deliakate - I probably wouldn't because to me it's a new-fangled term that wouldn't automatically come to mind. But now you come to mention it...... It probably depends on your local accent.
