Love this name. My parents think its very harsh, and DH hates it (but think I can work on him...). What do you think?

FoxyRevenger · 13/01/2011 11:38

Erm, I'm not sure. My first thought was 'bell', my second was it sounds a wee bit like the stage name of a burlesque dancer.

Bucharest · 13/01/2011 11:39

Belongs to the other names chosen by the Beckhams and their extended families.

Naff and sleb.

sophiesmummie · 13/01/2011 11:41

Dislike it. I'm not keen on virtue names - Chastity, Prudence, Liberty etc.

RamblingRosa · 13/01/2011 11:42

Of all the virtue names I like this one the best. I think I considered it for DD. I think it's a very pretty name with a lovely meaning.

hmberry · 13/01/2011 11:45

I have to say i dont like it .

tammytoby · 13/01/2011 11:48

I don't like it at all, I'm afraid.

Dreya · 13/01/2011 11:51

I'm not very keen as its the name of my favourite shop! Also nn Libby or Berty aren't great either. Do you have any other names on
your shortlist?

FoxyRevenger · 13/01/2011 11:52

I guess it's one of those awkward names - I reckon if I saw it on a CV I would have preconceptions of that person, and maybe wouldn't call them for an interview based on that.

It's not a name you can take into adulthood I think.

Not keen - has a slightly chavvy/naff feel to it.

mumofcupcake · 13/01/2011 12:03

Sorry, but not a fan.

deliakate · 13/01/2011 12:49

Other names on the shortlist are Vesper (DH likes this one, I am not so sure) and Elizabeth, which means something to both of us, and we both like.

Pinkjenny · 13/01/2011 12:53

I considered this for dd. Let's just say I am very glad I didn't use it. Think it's a bit, erm, 'wannabe' iyswim.

I have a friend called Liberty Belle. She is absolutely stunning, a very gifted scientist and extremely nice. She is also American, which is why the name works! I like it though :)

coccyx · 13/01/2011 12:54

?Vesper....awful reminds me of a scooter
Like Elizabeth

Swedes1 · 13/01/2011 12:55

If you call her Liberty, you will end up calling her Libby. So why not call her Elizabeth and then call her Libby?

Liberty sounds a bit Tammy Girl. Grin

deliakate · 13/01/2011 13:13

I still love it.... Wink
Another option is Camilla/Camille.

OP posts:
FoxyRevenger · 13/01/2011 17:50

Vesper? Nooooooooooo.

Camille is FAB. Is on my list if I have another girl.

Dreya · 14/01/2011 01:28

Oh dear, sorry not keen on Vesper either. I do immediately think of the scooters. I do like Elizabeth however. It's timeless. I prefer Camilla to Camille too. In fact the more I say Camilla out loud the more I like it. Elizabeth is my favourite that you have suggested so far. Does it flow nicely with your surname? Liberty might be quite nice as a middle name. Elizabeth Liberty.....?

ohnoshedittant · 14/01/2011 02:36

Don't like it.

chiefchef · 14/01/2011 21:59

Love it and love Libby as nn.
Def not chavvy.

CarGirl · 14/01/2011 22:01

Really not keen, very popular around here and well more popular with the chav's than the middle working class.

annasophia · 15/01/2011 22:25

Don't like it much. Sounds American.

PlanetLizard · 16/01/2011 10:20

I quite like Liberty. Or you could use Elizabeth as full name and Libby or Betty as nickname.
