I would say Orla as I have one but it seems to becoming well used!

PlanetLizard · 13/01/2011 21:10

Orla is getting a lot of attention on MN at the moment so could become as trendy as Isla.

Of the two I much prefer Isla. It sounds lighter whereas Orla-pronouncing-the-R is a tonguetwister. I also like Iona.

wickedfairy · 13/01/2011 21:50

My DD is called Orla - it is only good if you and others can actually pronounce the R though!

As someone said above, if you can't pronounce your R's, it sounds like "Awla", which is awful.

It is becoming a much more popular name, hopefully it doesn't become too popular!

minkiemoo · 13/01/2011 23:10

Oh Isla!!! But I have an Isla so am slightly biased!!! She is an Isla Ruby, but lots of good middle name suggestions on here - happy choosing.

Do love Orla to though!

Plonker · 13/01/2011 23:13

Orla

Isla is beautiful but very trendy

I have an Isla Beth, Evie Lola and a Freya Emily. I prefer Isla to Orla. My iPod changed that to oral Hmm

ShoshanaBlue · 13/01/2011 23:21

I prefer Orla.

MissTFied · 13/01/2011 23:30

Orla - both Orla and Erin are Irish - so goes with your other daughter's name.

KittyFoyle · 13/01/2011 23:36

I saw a horror film called 'The Hands of Orlac' about a psycho killer's hands being grafted onto a pianist's and can't hear the name Orla without thinking of that.

ohnoshedittant · 14/01/2011 02:37

I like Isla best.

thelittlestkiwi · 14/01/2011 04:14

I like Isla Jane.

ValiumSilverTongue · 14/01/2011 10:54

Orla because it's less rightnow than Isla is. I do really like Isla though.

ValiumSilverTongue · 14/01/2011 10:56

ps

Orla Joy
Orla Maeve (instead of Mae...)
Orla Juliet
Orla Bethany
Orla Marianne

ValiumSilverTongue · 14/01/2011 10:57

Shock at the ipod, but Grin too!!

KittyFoyle · 14/01/2011 11:20

Beware the hands of Orla....

ValiumSilverTongue · 14/01/2011 15:30

Sounds like some really obscure film that only one person on the thread has seen! and even then, it's not the same, it's just similar.

KittyFoyle · 14/01/2011 15:43

It is obscure - some 1920s Austrian number. But remade twice since.

shouldnotbehere · 14/01/2011 15:46

Orla Faye

KenDoddsDadsDog · 14/01/2011 16:09

Blimey Kitty when my 1 year old Orla goes to her grandparents she likes nothing more than to bang the piano keys. Should I be afraid?Grin

KittyFoyle · 14/01/2011 23:07

No - the pianist was fine until he lost his hands in an accident and had a transplant of hands from a serial killer. Think it was remade in the 80's with Michael Caine. Awful.

Dreya · 15/01/2011 04:17

I like both names but prefer Isla regardless of how popular it is. It's still a nice sound. So I say Isla (as long as your surname isn't White!) Grin
