Is a double-barelled name, classed as one or two names?

Don't know sorry!!

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 30/12/2010 23:46

Do you mean surname? Or first? Is it hyphenated?

Christmasbelle · 30/12/2010 23:48

First and hyphenated. Any ideas Wink

Not sure but guessing it would count as one.

CarolSinger · 31/12/2010 00:16

Hyphenated first name classed as one I think

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 31/12/2010 00:25

One name, but are we talking of the Peggy-Sue ilk here? Are you really sure it's a good idea?

Nightstar · 31/12/2010 01:10

If it's hyphenated it is one name. Same with surname. But honestly, it's generally a bad idea unless something v short

Christmasbelle · 31/12/2010 08:56

Thanks everyone. I thought it would be classed as one. Do you think this is also the case if it was a middle name? Smile

Think it could be.

Christmasbelle · 01/01/2011 11:22

Thanks everyone. Does that mean you would only use one initial for it or both initials that make up the name - I am a little unsure Confused

You would use both initials, so Peggy-Sue would be P.-S.
