Nancy?

What do you reckon?

I love it, I have a good friend called Nancy.

I think its a lovely name timeless and age less-very very nice!!

I really don't like it, I don't know why.

Reminds me of whisky, I'm afraid! I think that's mostly 'cos I'm a folky though. ().
I also tend to think of Nancy from Oliver Twist. I believe the Camerons have a daughter by this name too. Objectively I should find it pretty, I guess, but the above associations colour it a little for me.

Whisky? Not heard of that one! And can't make link work. Other associations there don't really bother me. I'm just afraid of choosing a name people will laugh at or think is too weird. Does Nancy fall into this category?

I like it. Makes me think of Swallows and Amazons.

The song is all about how the singer is beguiled by whisky in the same way as one might be by a woman and how he consequently ends up drunk and broke. But, like I say, only folkies would get the reference.

It sounds a bit prissy to me, sorry.

Its a lovely name ,it can be spelt Nansi too which i think is pretty and a more modern way xx

There are loads of little Nancies in SW London, and have been for a good few years now (I know 2 in yr 2 and several younger). It's not a name I particularly like (sorry), but as it's so popular these days I don't think anyone would find it a weird choice.

Very popular in London. I find it a bit brassy barmaid-ish. Not keen.

I have a Nancy - she'll be 4 in February. It really suits her - she's cheeky and spirited and likes dressing up! She's lots of fun.

She could well be a brassy-barmaid when she's older, though .

It's not particularly popular here (Norfolk) or according to the ONS list either - I don't think it's in the top 100, anyway, if that bothers you.

Of course there's also a song that my FIL insists on singing - which has a line 'Nancy tickle my fancy'. Which isn't at all annoying!!

I do really like it and my only other favourite tops most polls of most popular names which seems like a good enough reason to go for something different.
