Wow, what a great response, and so interesting!

I like the meaning 'light'. I think this is what Phoebe means, which is lovely. And nice to see that Eleanor means the same - another option!

I too love the meaning 'laughter' for Isaac, and read somewhere that Zak (spelt this way) could be short for Isaac, so is another option for the same meaning. I actually know someone of with a Zak Isaac - wonder if they knew of this?!

I also like that Amabel means 'lovable' and 'beautiful'.

Some of the 'not nice' ones made me laugh. And I didn't know that Dulcie meant 'sweet' - I like that meaning too! How is Dulcie pronounced...? (incase I'm saying it wrong!)

Thanks all, keep them coming! x

I love the name Elysia which, I think, means blissful.

Dulcie is pronounced pretty much as it looks, as far as I'm aware.

My name means "a strong woman" so I wanted something equally strong for my DD. She ended up being called Bridget which means "exalted one" and in Irish mythology Brighid (Bridget) was the goddess of fire, poetry and wisdom. I thought that seemed suitably tough, yet feminine.

But then DH always says I put too much thought into meanings of names.
