What do you think of Anneliese?

I love Anna but it doesn't seem to flow with our surname. Been thinking of names which can be shortened Annabel is out (knew an annoying one and can't get over the connection). I came up with Anneliese, I love the way it sounds. The spelling is a bit Hmm though and she'll probably end up spelling it out for everyone constantly Hmm...

I find out the sex on Tuesday anyway, I already have 3 DDs so am struggling for a girl's name. There will be under a year between DD3 and this one and she is Ava so I think I'd quite like another A name.

Annalise Hartman Neighbours!!! I think Anna is lovely on it's own, will it really not go with your surname?! x

I love it, prefer the --liese spelling though. Anastasia is another nice 'Ana' or 'Anna' name.

Love it! Also like Anastasia. I would spell it Annalise if it were my DC.

My DD (5) is Annalise, its a lovely name, we've not met another one.

I wouldn't worry about the Neighbours connection (it just shows our age!). It's not a particularly negative connection and the future generations won't have a clue who she was anyway.

Mostly positive then, :) thanks for your opinions. Still quite a while to go though so plenty of time to persuade DH (he's a simple being, likes Anna but I fear Annalise may be a step too out of the ordinary for him).

Aneliese is my middle name. so love it

It is a very common German name for 50+ year old Germans (but hasn't got the granny chick quite yet, I'm afraid).

In German it is Anneliese (pronounced Ann-eh-lee-seh). I don't really like it. Annie is cute, though.

sparkle12mar08 · 14/12/2010 10:50

Anna by itself is much classier and more classic.

mathanxiety · 14/12/2010 15:05

There's Susanna or Susannah, which can be shortened to Anna...

susiey · 14/12/2010 18:01

we have a dd called Annalise and I love it! I also love that we can call her anna if the mood takes us and I think its unusual yet pretty but then I'm biased
