As in would you consider it chavvy/posh/nerdy/trendy etc based on people you know with the name?

I don't know as it's not popular where I live, I don't know any, of any age.

Although it does seem to be getting more popular, something we tried to avoid after the DD2 name debacle Hmm

It's definitely not a posh name where I live. It's the new Lucas.

I know a few Rubens in the US, and they are all from Latin America, so to me it is a Latino name. Definitely not posh. Hip in some areas - maybe, epending on where you live... Nothing wrong with it, but if you have an Anglo-Saxon last name and no hispanic root, I'd say a bizzarre combo...

I've always thought of it as a Jewish name too. I only know one who is a few months old. I really like it and suggested it (I'm athiest, DH is Catholic BTW) but DH didn't like it, I think he thought it was poncey! we ended up with a different Old Testament name Smile

It's just a normal name. I think of it as a Biblical name. It's more fashionable now but is also traditional.

I'm with spidookly, what do you reckon the pronunciation of Tycho Brahe is?

Being a space-nut it was always on my secret dream list for a boy's name. But I was seriously put off after hearing the supposed 'correct' pronunciation.
