It was my great-grandfather's name; I have a lot of fond memories of him.

I wouldn't use it as a first name, probably, but what are people's opinions of it overall?

As a middle name. Not as a first. Nice to keep the unusual names going.

You may get raised eyebrows from skiiers - St. Anton, an Austrian resort.

CheerfulYank · 04/12/2010 19:54

Most people in Minnesota don't go to Austrian ski resorts often, but that is something to think about. Thanks! :)

I have been to St Anton several times and I have only ever heard it as Saint Anton, never as Stanton.. Confused.

As a name, Stanton is easy to pronounce, works in most languages and sounds masculine. Nicknam could be Stan. Actually, I quite like it as a first name Smile.

I like it but the only use of the name Stanton I know is - Stanton Warriors who are a breakbeat duo, and its the name on alot of drain covers stanton drainage......

CheerfulYank · 04/12/2010 21:00

He was called Stant by most people. :) He died when I was seven, but I have very strong memories of him, sitting in his plaid chair and giving me candy over my mother's protestations. :)

Isn't he the chubby queen in SATC?

spidookly · 04/12/2010 21:23

If it's not a first name, it doesn't matter.

Nice to keep memories of people alive in names that are bestowed but not used for address.

CheerfulYank · 04/12/2010 21:24

No, he was Stanford, pressuredrop :)

mugggletoeandwine · 04/12/2010 21:25

Middle name only.

CheerfulYank · 04/12/2010 21:27

Oh no, I wouldn't use it as a first name, not to worry. :)

It was the surname if my BF at infants school: her big brother was invariably known as "Stan" despite having a totally different Christian name. I think it would work very nicely in the middle.

discobeaver · 06/12/2010 18:42

Pippy was also going to say Stanton Warriors. It's a brand of stylus.

ShoppingDays · 06/12/2010 18:47

Sounds like a place name but fine for a middle name.
