I had thought Louisa was classic and pretty but dh not keen. He prefers Lucinda but im worried this is too horsey - though i do like the potential for nicknames with Lucinda. Votes please!

sorry don't like Lucinda, but Lucy yes and Louisa maybe

letsblowthistacostand · 23/11/2010 19:48

DD1 is Louisa, it's a fab name! Lucinda is a bit too much, sort of like Esmerelda when you could just have Esme or Maximillian and not Max.

skippingturtle · 23/11/2010 20:01

We're in sync here Mavis, Lucinda instantly makes me think 'horsey'. Smile

MelinaM · 23/11/2010 20:03

I'm for Louisa too! Not at all keen on Lucinda! ..wasn't that one of the ugly step-sisters in Cinderella?Confused

MuffinMouse · 23/11/2010 20:04

Louisa is the prettier name. It's the 'Cinders' that I wouldn't like. Don't think it's necessarily horsey - but it isn't as attractive. IMO

typsical · 23/11/2010 20:07

Definitely Louisa!

SausageMonster · 23/11/2010 20:16

Lucinda - much more upmarket

Rockbird · 23/11/2010 20:25

Lucinda is lovely, Louisa is dullsville.

ginodacampoismydh · 23/11/2010 20:40

louisa
dont like lucinda what about lucia

clumsymumluckybaby · 23/11/2010 21:04

im a louisa - cant say ive ever loved it
but i am 'horsey'.
my cousin lucinda however is not...

lucia is lovely imo.Grin

nb,we are both nicknamed lu/lou,and we both hate it.

Bue · 23/11/2010 21:38

Louisa is beautiful.

I vaguely know someone named Lucinda and for some reason I can never remember her name when we meet. I think of her as "the lady with that really flowery name". I think it's just that - a bit frilly and flowery.

no brainer - Louisa is infinitely nicer than Lucinda. And yes, Lucinda is horsey.

AphraBen · 24/11/2010 00:38

I do think Lucinda is horsey and have only ever met very horsey (however nice) grown up Lucindas.

I absolutely LOVE Louisa.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 24/11/2010 00:49

I'm a 'dull' Louisa. The only irritating thing I found is that people always assume that you're called 'Louise'.

When I was little (and used to ride horses) there was a show jumper called Lucinda Green - which maybe where the horsey connotation comes from.

I'm not fond of Lucinda - but then I don't like the shotening to Lucy (which I do find pretty dull, myself) or Cindy (sounds too American for me).

Oh and MadamDeathStare you have reminded me of 'Cheese Please Louise' which is pretty irritating as well - from an advert from way before I was born - which is hilarious, apparently Hmm.

ShoppingDays · 24/11/2010 01:06

Like Louisa and Lucy, but dislike Lucinda. How about Larissa, Laura, Leonora, Lydia?

diddl · 24/11/2010 09:02

Louisa.

Also like Lucia.

ThatllDoPig · 24/11/2010 09:56

I like Louisa best.

Much prefer Lucy to Lucinda.

Komondor · 24/11/2010 10:18

Prefer Louisa.

I went to school with a Lucinda, we either called her Lou or Lucinda. She isnt the least horsey. I quite like Lucinda too, just think Louisa is prettier.

pointydog · 24/11/2010 10:33

Louisa.

Yes, Lucinda too horsey

Pasiphae · 24/11/2010 10:44

I like Lucinda better. It's more lively.
Louisa is nice but a bit predictible.

rachel234 · 24/11/2010 12:47

What does 'horsey' mean and does it have a negative connotation Hmm?

tessofderbyville · 24/11/2010 13:07

Both pretty IMO.

I actually prefer Louise and Lucy but then I like plain and simple names.

lilly13 · 24/11/2010 22:41

Louisa

maandpa · 25/11/2010 11:41

Louisa!!! My dd2 is Louisa, Lulu for short.
