The comics thread reminded me of this. DF already vetoed, but I'm right, aren't I? Jinty is cute.

Jinty McGinty's - an irish pub...

ShatnersBassoon · 15/11/2010 16:46

Well, on the plus side, he/she can always get a job as a model for Boden.

Habbibu · 15/11/2010 16:48

I know a very eminent Dame Jinty - in her case it's a nickname for Janet, but she uses Jinty in her professional life.

Showaddywaddy · 15/11/2010 16:49

It doesn't even score that highly in scrabble.

Komondor · 15/11/2010 16:58

I just looked it up - its a girls name. I'd always assumed it to be an Indian boys name.

My DH has a male friend who we all call Jinty. He's British of Indian Origin(his family were expelled from Uganda in 1970s). I'm now assuming Jinty is his nickname, or shortened name for a longer Indian name... I learn something new every day.

I like Jinty as both a girls and boys name.

Reminds me of Jinty McGinty's too. Great pub but full of drunken students so that's the image of a Jinty for me.

Dando · 15/11/2010 17:10

No.

Fayrazzled · 15/11/2010 17:12

Very sloaney IMO.

Willabywallaby · 15/11/2010 17:36

sounds rude somehow...

TaurielTest · 15/11/2010 17:39

Prof Nelson, habbibu?
Made me think of her too.
Is short for Janet in general I think...

Habbibu · 15/11/2010 19:46

The very same, puddock!

muggglewump · 15/11/2010 19:48

Stupid and silly and a nickname, and a daft one at that.
Give your child a name to be proud of, not one where they cough and hide behind the nearest person when they have to admit what they are called.

fallingandlaughing · 15/11/2010 20:00

Another for the famous McGinty's. Must be a lot of Glasgow Mumsnetters.

It was also my great great aunt's name. I thinkit was short for something but can't remember what.

MelinaM · 16/11/2010 00:31

Reminds me of that chap 'Jointy' from cash in the attic! ..not that you'd find me watching such crapWink
