We are v close to due date for DC3, DD2 and really struggling for a name we both like - were thinking about Thea, but just thought about Myla (mile-a)...we don't know any. Is it a nice name or are we getting desperate? Will it constantly be mis-pronounced? I don't like meela

Honestly I don't like it- it sounds like a Hollywood brat child star's name.

duchesse · 09/11/2010 03:48

Thea is nice.

diddl · 09/11/2010 07:47

It´s lovely.

Here in Germany spelt Mayla.

I know an adult & a teenager & it suits both.

Your spelling should ensure correct pronunciatio.
(Assuming UK)

I do think automatically of bras I'm afraid.

LaTristesse · 09/11/2010 09:26

Yep, posh knickers! Sorry...

MmeLindt · 09/11/2010 09:27

Not keen, sorry. It looks like it is missing some vowels.

HelenaRose · 09/11/2010 14:02

I think it's very pretty.

Sarsaparilllla · 09/11/2010 14:13

I like it, it's pretty and unusual without sounding made-up :)

nancydrewrocked · 09/11/2010 14:16

Posh slightly kinky knickers...

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2010 14:20

Its very nice.

Its probably only me who is ever going to think 'Mylar film', DH in the plastics industry.

Wholelottalove · 09/11/2010 14:28

I think it's nice. Quite like the spelling Mayla. I think I prefer it to Thea but I like that name too.

Odelay · 09/11/2010 14:34

saucy underwear - sorry

winnybella · 09/11/2010 14:36

Underwear here, too.

winnybella · 09/11/2010 14:36

jojosmaman · 09/11/2010 15:42

Nice name unfortunatley tainted by images of diamante whips, fur handcuffs and paddles.

Thea is very nice though. Or Mia?

allset · 10/11/2010 01:24

We had also considered the spelling Mylah, but I think that changes it from an English to a French name - does that remove the underwear connotations? I had never heard of Myla underwear, is it really well known? Are they likely to go out of business soon??

diddl · 10/11/2010 06:50

I hadn´t heard of the underwear.

Still think that it´s a lovely name.

Can´t see that an "h" makes it French tbh.

LaTristesse · 10/11/2010 07:12

Mainly London based, with some overseas stores. I think they're more likely to expand than go bust personally! here

SoLongAsItsHealthy · 10/11/2010 10:25

Knickers, sorry. I pass one every day.

Scarabeetle · 10/11/2010 10:33

May as well name her Agent Provocateur.

Ilovemyscrumples · 10/11/2010 13:20

I named my DD2 Myla 6 weeks ago and everyone has said how lovely and unusual it is! I don't see an issue with the underwear brand, there is an underwear brand called Freya and I know loads of little Freyas!

Scarabeetle · 10/11/2010 19:24

Ok, I draw the line at Sloggi though.

Myla is certainly a beautiful name. In a few years I'm sure the brand will cease to exist, and your daughter will still have a lovely name.
