Boys name to go with Hazel

Hello,

We're expecting a lovely bouncing boy in February, very exciting!

I'm fully preoccupied with thinking of a name for him. We came up with our daughters name in hospital, shortly after the birth. While her first name, Hazel was shortlisted ahead of time, her middle name, Louise, was a wildcard that 'came to us' in the delivery room. Fact of the matter was that it was actually the midwifes name, and somehow it transposed itself into our minds, hey presto - Hazel Louise!

For the new babys name, we have decided on the middle name Peter (family name). First name is still TBC. I quite like Coben at the moment - that's an understatement - I fully love the name Coben right now, possibility for a day, a week, who knows?! Any thoughts? Could call him Coby as a nn - cute for a baby, then Coben when he's a CEO of a multinational corporation...

Thanks for your thoughts!

Hi
My first thought would be to go with a name that starts with H like Harry, Harvey, Hayden,...
I named my boy Ethan and I love it.
Good luck....

I've never heard of the name Coben before but it goes with Hazel maybe a bit too well as a cob nut is a hazelnut!

Which leads me inevitably to suggest
....Phil Bert Grin

Sorry - Hazel is a lovely name and so is Peter

tummytickler · 04/11/2010 14:43

I don't think these would be your style but with Haxel I would have

Gilbert
Ernest
Leonard
Rowan
Albert
Cosmo
William
Bertram
Peter
Henry
Elias
Clarence
Cedric
Linus
Arnold
Harold
James

I do not like Coben to be honest, it does not sound like a classic name as Hazel is (to me), it is a bit too trendy to go with Hazels old fashioned charm.
I think Hazel and Clarence or Hazel and Bertram are fabulous together.

How would you say Coben? Co - Ben?
Quite nice and unusual
Hazel and Callum sounds nice.
Hazel and Benjamen
Hazel and Matt.
Goes with most names really. Lovely girls name.

Hazel and Rowan

(I knew a brother and sister called that and loved the nature theme!)

MitziRosie · 04/11/2010 15:52

Filbert? They are synonyms. What could be better?

SuePurblybilt · 04/11/2010 16:15

I was going to suggest Rowan. Coben is OK, growing on me Smile. The cob/hazel connection may be a little twee (little tree, oh I'm killing myself Grin) though?

Are you thinking masculine nature-y names? Something like Bay or Beech or Arwen?
Loving the idea of Filbert.

supergreenuk · 04/11/2010 16:18

Dean
Ha ha. Sorry lol
Hazel Dean......sorry everyone else probably too young for that joke.

Komondor · 04/11/2010 16:28

Miles

MitziRosie · 04/11/2010 16:43

Lowell is a nice name - fairly well known in USA but not at all common here. Means "loved well" allegedly, depending upon which book you read. Lowell and Hazel seem to go rather well.

Mind you, Filbert takes some beating.

LittleMissBliss · 04/11/2010 16:48

I would say Hazel and Jack.

I have a Jacob who is called Coby for short he's almost three isn't aware that his name is Jacob. But If want's to be a lawyer then it's always there!

KiwiJean · 06/11/2010 15:00

Thank you so much for all your helpful suggestions!

I hadn't realised that Cob was a type of hazelnut!!! I have inadvertently running along some nut-theme it would seem!

I'm also loving Rowan, and was thinking along the lines of Owen as well, but now like Rowan much more!!

So handy to have some additional input into the baby names!!!

Basil (using the US pronounciation 'Bayzill') to rhyme with Hazel.

PestoEatsGunpowderPlotters · 06/11/2010 15:08

Rowan

Corbin instead of Coben? (I don't like Coben)

Jonah Peter
Elliott Peter
Leo Peter
Isaiah Peter
Isaac Peter
Josiah Peter
Ivo Peter
Conrad Peter
Arlo Peter (Arlo means barberry tree)
Daragh Peter (Daragh is an Irish name refereing to the oak tree)
Michael Peter
Gabriel Peter

Louis Peter? (even though your DD's middle name is Louise)

Also Benjamin Peter (despite the Beatrix Potter references) -- I think Hazel and Benjamin sound nice together.
