What do you think of the name Martha-Rose. I am not normally a fan of double-barelled names but saw a similar name given on a previous thread and thought it sounded quite nice. What do you think, would I be totally slaughtering a beautiful name by doing this? Honest opinions please, I can take it Grin

I would just have Rose as a second name. I don't get it with double barrelled names i'm afraid.

Personally, I wouldn't double-barrel it, I don't think that really works for any names.

Why not just use Rose as a second name. You can always call her 'Martha Rose' as one of your pet names but there's no need to hyphenate.

glad to see you're swaying towards Martha by the way Wink

I have an hyphenated first name, but people only use the first part of it normally. I think Martha-Rose is very pretty!

Guacamole - do you mind having an hyphenated first name or would have you preferred it as two seperate names?

I like it.

As long as your surname is not hyphenated, I think it's okay. My DH doesnt like hyphenated names though.

I went to school with a Sally-Anne, Mary-Lou, Katie-Ann, and an Ann-Marie.

You will get smiles from Doctor Who fans, too...

I like having a hyphenated name... even though it's rarely used in all it's fullness. :)

I'm quite defensive about the way it's written (I insist on a lower case second part), so in your case... Martha-rose (but that's just me).

But Komondor has a point, when I got married I either took my DH's name or kept my own... because having a hyphenated first name and a hyphenated surname is just wrong and a tadge poncey!

I genuinely think Martha-Rose is a beautiful name.

So, the general view is that it is better to leave the name Martha as it is and not mess around with the hyphen in the middle Hmm. I just thought having the rose there made it...well, a little bit different for the better but as I mentioned earlier,I dont want to be looked upon as slaughtering a pretty and classical name Smile.

Most people I have known with double barrel first names have ended u just being called the 1st part anyway.
