Hi,

I have lurked a lot on the baby names thread over the past few weeks and often post on education threads but not usually here.

Anyway, I am 40+2 with DC2. We have a short list of boys and girls names but won't decide for definite until after baby is born. DD is Lydia (middle name Rose) which wasn't even particularly on our short list at the time. It just suited her.

We both like Erin for a girl but are struggling with a middle name. We had thought about May (it's a family name on both sides), but every girl we seem to meet has this for a middle name at the moment and this happened to us last time with Rose! What else would work? We like fairly traditional, classic names, nothing to "out there". There is also the complication that I am a teacher so some names have negative connotations for me!

I was going to say Mae! I think it would sound better with a one syllable name like Belle, Faye, Jane, Pearl, Maeve, that sort of thing.

I quite like Erin Eliza.
Or how about Erin Althea?

Thanks for your suggestions so far. I like Erin Elizabeth and Erin Olivia best but a close friend has recently had a miscarriage and was going to use Elizabeth as a first name had the baby been a girl. Not sure how she'd feel about it.

I should also say our surname is one syllable and begins with S.

I think the longer names sound nice or the alliterative (sp?) ones. Like Erin Elizabeth but understand why you might not use.

Erin Elizabeth
Erin Olivia
Erin Eliza
Erin Mary (sounds strong and traditional!)
Erin Amelia/Emilia
Erin Madeleine
Erin Sophia
Erin Isobelle
Erin Josephine
Erin Katherine

Erin Callista
Erin Alicia
Erin Leonie

Yes, I agree. I think the alliterative ones or the longer ones are good too. Will run a few of them past DH later. Still no baby though..... (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!)

Erin Hannah?

belfastchildsingsagain · 03/11/2010 19:09

Erin Felicity is what our DD will be called.

sarararararah · 03/11/2010 20:20

Ah, belfast, I LOVE Erin Felicity. But DH reckons it will sound like we've robbed the names from Strictly. (Erin Boag and Felicity Kendal) He is SOOOO wrong, but as I had the final say really with our first child I feel I can't really push it again!! Lucky you!

Oh, by the way, he likes Erin Olivia and Erin Amelia (as do I) so we're just going to wait and see what happens when the baby finally arrives! (40+3 today and counting!)
