Love it. Love the fact it has so many possibilities for change throughout life and it works in most major European languages which is a bonus.

Freddie is cute for a little boy
Fred or Rick for a teen
Frederick can be carried off by anyone from their early twenties to a pensioner

You should use, if only because I can't, along with Xavier with is another of my face names.

I think Freddie is quite popular at the moment. I know of 3 aged between 2 & 6

Frederick is a lovely name. It was my Grandfather's name and I'd love to use it as a middle name.

I like it and don't mind Fred but hate Freddie and Rick.

Love Frederick. It was my GP's name and he was always known as Fred. Don't like Freddie much though and every time I hear Rick I can hear Bianca shouting "Rickeeeee".

Would have used it for DS but it really doesn't go with our last name.

I love it. Know a Freddie who is lovely and funny and clever - so only good association for me. Think it's a popular "posh" name, isn't it? Example - younger brother in Room w A View, plus the Freddie I know, both have similar backgrounds and accents. Am Australian so not really in the know re that sort of thing.

I like it a lot in full. NN's are harder. I'd go for Fred as a nickname...though in our family he'd inevitable end up Freddie! In my sister's house, he'd be Frederick, so it all depends on you!

It's a family name for me. We've had a Frederick and a Josiah in every generation since the late 17th century. I don't like Freddie though and it's fairly popular atm.

I like it and all its shortenings. Classic, classy name imo. There are various different spellings that work too - doesn't have to be Frederick necessarily.

Love it - we're thinking of using it for DC1 if it turns out to be a boy. (It's still a bean).

Fred for nn. Freddie isn't all that common - on the 2009 list it's 53rd and Frederick itself is somewhere in the 90s.

I love it.
and I love all the nicknames (or rather, the choice you have with nicknames!) that go with it.

Good nicknames no matter how old they are, like frakk said.

But I love it most in its full form.

I Think of frightfully posh boys. Don't mind Fred (although it's a bit old man like).

I find it quite difficult to say - think it's the 'er' in the middle.

There is a Frederick (nn Fred/Freddie) and 2 Freddies in my son's year at school.
